Hi, have a one piece case 4L60E KCDO89. 1996 K series 5.7L which I want to install in a 1989 K1500 with a 700R- just for easy fitment. I also want to convert to a 24X engine management ecu with a trans controller, engine will be the existing SBC gen1. Choices are 0411, Halthech Rebel, Holley Terminator Max, or ??. A piece of info I came accross... even for the 0411 the harness and electrics would have to exchanged for 2002 4L60E, and the aftermarket ecu's seem to touch on 2008 electrics.....is this true and can it be done. Current pump in core is PWM which I am not interested in utilizing. Repinngin is not a dealbreaker for me.

The Holley seems more concerned about the connector pinning with a comment about pre and post 2009.

The Haltech seems more concerned about not being 4x4 and 2006-2008.

'96-'08 4L60E's can be used with P01/0411 PCM's, You just won't utilize the ISS sensor in the '07/'08 models.

Holley will also accept '96-'08.

Haltech might utilize the ISS? As '06 GMT360 4L60E's did use a ISS.....But '06/'07 GMT800's did not.

If a trans is equiped with this ISS along with the VSS, this would moniter internal slippage?

For the age of the vehicle would it be recommended to change out the harness and electrics anyway? Would Rostra be in the running or keep it GM?

I think this is between the 0411 and Haltech right now.

Monitors slippage more accurately & allows better line pressure control.

I rarely have to change 4L60E harnesses unless the lock tabs got broke, Unlike 4L80's where I change the harness 100%. Rostra is a decent replacement but still prefer GM.

Contact Haltech & ask if a ISS is required!!

This is an old TBI 7747 truck. Vortec wouldbe too easy ;)
Glad you came on here again- regarding shift modification in low range- is that a big deal? A show stopper I wouldn't think Holley would do ther either, Haltech is probably giving more detail....? Just in from Haltech.

Hi Dave,
As long as the engine has any combination of Gen3 or Gen4 crank and cam patterns along with 8 injectors and coils this will work.
Most 4l series transmission don't have the ISS but we added this for the few that we have seen. For 4wd, this just means the speed sensor is moved to the transferase. I think the harness might even reach. Worst case, a little bit of extension for the tail shaft speed sensor. Also, wire a 4wd input to the AUX connector. This way the ECU knows shift points for both 4wd and 2wd gear ratios. Let me know if you need any help configuring this once its wired up.
Kind Regards,
