ive had one for years but just started using it a few months ago and am really liking it. i wash my car every sunday and ill give it a dusting each afternoon when i get home from work. in fact last week it rained on tuesday here and i dusted it every day after, did so again this morning it still looks freshly washed so ill be skipping the weekly wash tomorrow.

I have used one on My 65 Mustang for about five years with what I think is reasonably good results. One must remember it is a duster not a total cleaner. It seems to remove the dust on my car and leave it looking fine. You must just take your time and not try to go to fast.

As the owner of a black car, that thing is my best friend! I use it constantly, as my car is a magnet for dust! If you use it very very lightly you won't add scratches to the paint at all, a lot of people use these dusters with great success.

its quickly become one of my go to tools for car washing along with the absorber, california water blade and some good micro fiber cloths....

I've been using a Cal Duster on my '80 Firebird Formula(black) since '88 and I have never seen a scrach in the paint due to the duster. I've also tried the knock offs and the Cal Duster is supperior as it actually draws the dust into the strands rather than pushing the dust around. You can also throw the duster in the laundry. Only now is mine ready for a good laundry cleaning as it is not drawing the dust into the strands anymore. I also use the Cal Water Blade. Great for removing the majority of water prior to towel drying.

I agree those who say it scratches just don't use it properly.
I have seen people actually use both hands so as to apply more pressure to try to remove something on the surface.
Hold the brush up off the surface and lightly run it over the surface.
Remember this is to remove light dust not for cleaning the car.

I have three black cars and love it. It does a great job removing dust, but it should not be used to try to remove dirt, road grime or spots. That's where the scratches come from.

I use the mini-duster for all of my cars (inside). Does a bang-up job of keeping the dash clean. The generic copies aren't worth a cent.

I wouldn't use the Cal Duster on a hot hood, roof etc.
Especially on a dark color. There's parafin wax on those strands. Many say to put a new duster in a paperbag for awhile before using it.
I use one and follow up with a detailer.I also have the mini duster for the interior.

Use one with good results. The Mustang doesn't leave the garage too often and gets dusty from sitting. Works great on dust removal for awhile (~5-6 weeks) and then you eventually have to wash things.

I use one on my black dashboard and it works great. The lady that sold me my old car gave it to me since she was no longer going to be driving

I've used one for years. Just to dust off the car and detail it, not to clean it. Never a scratch. If the car is dirty enough that you can see much road film on the paint--it needs washing. I've gone through weeks and not needed to wash a car; just dusting it and using a good detailing product. My winning combination is the California Duster, and McG's new Ultimate Detailer.

^ I hope you don't use the WaterBlade to remove dust...

I wouldn't use it to remove water.
A little spot of missed grit and you have a big problem.
Especially on a dark color.

Can't see how it can be used to dust.

Count me as a satisfied user. My last three cars are midnight blue, charcoal, and black. Never seen a mark of any kind, and I'm known for being incredibly anal. (Some people are afraid to ride in my car!)

I also use a California Jelly Blade, much better than original!
