CAFE Standards Being Scaled Back

It ain't gonna reduce prices nor improve reliability. Another thing is that global automakers are less likely to change their plans as 3yrs from now times will change again.
Place a mandatory 10/150 drivetrain warranty on cars that use
CVT / 6+ speed slush box xmsns
Turbo
DI

And all of a sudden you would see the automotive landscape change and for those who like such tech they will get a better warranty

Data Centers are sucking up big power. Electricity prices are high, and going up further. EV's have their place, but the government pushing their adoption has big repercussions that haven't been dealt with yet.

EVs are irrelevant in terms of power use, as of 3 years ago data miners use more power than all EVs combined.

AI Datacenters use an order of magnitude more power and are only 5% deployed, they will use the most power once full deployed dwarfing EV power use into irrelevance.

Exactly. This degree of volatility is incredibly disruptive and troublesome to the traditional product planning cycles for an automaker.
Which is why all such rules should be taken completely out of scope of gov't regulation-- they need the stability of market forces, supply and demand.

Automakers should be DRIVING the market-- with innovation, new styling, etc. Instead, they are always reacting to the latest gov't subsidy or mandate.

The majority of a modern vehicle's weight and cost can be traced directly or indirectly to a mandate from a gov't busybody who decided you were you too dumb to make your own assessments about cost and benefit.

Man made global warming is the possibly the biggest hoax ever perpetuated.
Man made global warming may have been the biggest golden goose in the history of the world for some individuals and organizations. Claim something that can't be proven or disproven, collect millions/ billions for promoting the claim, never produce a product or service, never be held accountable for a deadline or performance. Never ever miss a holiday, birthday, or three-day weekend because of a work deadline or work requirement.

Man made global warming is the possibly the most profitable industry a person could be working/ consulting in when measured by outputs/ productivity.

Prices would skyrocket

The old standard for 2031 was 50.4 mpg, new is 34.5. That's a huge difference. In order to achieve 50.4, manufacturers would need a EV heavy fleet, now they won't. That will save customers money, at least in terms of the purchase price.
I couldn’t glean that out. Can post something where can clearly see these two numbers.

You don't have to believe in it. Your insurance company certainly does.

Exactly.... which is why anyone who thinks this is going to have an effect on much are as delusional as the people making these decisions. Too many people with their heads stuck in 1970 not realizing another 1973 could be right around the corner. Short term daydreaming is fun but business has to plan for the long term, and we've seen how it plays out when they dont. Its not like the rest of the world and everything that goes on in it, does not exist.
Sadly, that has gone out the window as well. The executive group is made up of Business MBAs who's only goal is to show profitability to the end of their contract so they can collect their bonus. The fact that the actual company is on the rocks doesn't matter. Rinse, repeat.
