Have a lead on a Cadillac Allante project car. 4.1 caddy engine. Complete, with extra parts. Runs, drives, and stops. Extra rims. Needs upholstery.

Guy bought it for 1500. Losing storage. So he will take 750.

I find it interesting and you can still find parts. He has the bumper, have not asked why it is off, but he removed it. I dont know if i can say no at that pricce. I think I can save it.

TFL Classics wouldn't have steered you recently would they? 😄

I had a 98 ETC so I love these cars! If I had a choice I'd go w/a 4.6 NorthStar again but I don't know for sure if they offered the Allante w/that option. My bro had a 4.5 in a Caterra? Had a lot of problems but they all had problems so that's not saying much.

Nope, TFL? I have always loved them. I look frequently. I have always loved Caddy's. They made 21,000 from 87 to 93. First years were a 4.1, middle year's were a 4.5
93 was a N* 4.6. 4.1 is EASY. So I like that.

They are cool cars. My Grandad was into them for a while and I think he has 4 of them currently. 3 are projects similar to yours and one was a really nice 93 with the Northstar (I drove it to prom in 05 and was feeling pretty cool), but even that one has been sitting several years now. The whole story of them flying the bodies over from Italy in 757's is wild.

The headlights are glass and if I recall the story correctly my Grandad bought all the remaining ones GM had in stock at some point to hoard/sell on ebay. Think he still has a stash.

Powertrain components shared with other Cadillac's of the era are generally available, but Allante specific stuff can be hard to find.

Cool recent video on one:

There really was a car named "Allante?" I only remember the Bundy Bounce.
Not only it existed, its production process included the body being built in Italy by Pininfarina, then air-shipped to the US for assembly. Because - well - that's how you make cars efficiently 😙

Body from Italy. Ok. But do the lines of it not look like a cavalier? I’m skeptical, though have never owned one. @ls1mike, what would you DO with it?? (Though $750 for anything in as clean a shape as this looks is a bargain).

I have no idea. Fix it up and clean it from time to time. It is standard 80's Cadillac problems easy enough to fix. I have the space. I like different stuff. The Caprice is low number production. So is this. Just something to fart around with.

It is certainly unique. I see what you’re getting at. Hard to loose on this one!

Oh man, I love the Allante and have seriously considered picking one up. Once I have my garage built it’s a done deal. The Cadillac Forums can set you straight on any issues. Keep us posted!

Enough. I have messed with 4.5. But most of it standard GM stuff. Big thing is injectors and head gaskets. Aluminum block Iron heads.
And you must run stop leak in the coolant. Without that coolant will get past the cylinder liners and into the oil pan . They ate cams. Both lifters and the distributor drive gear.

Back in the 80's I worked at a good year service center. Car load of gangsters showed up with a blown head gasket on a Friday evening. Another tech got into it and found the round cam lobes.

BTW the manager promised the car would be fixed the following morning by noon! When the gangsters showed up and it had more problems was not finished they began to threaten everyone in the shop.

Cops got called etc. We were closed on Sundays. The tech that was working on it quit due to getting a gun pointed at him.

I ended up having to put it back together good enough to run for no pay. Flat cam and new head gaskets.

Final year of the Allante was 1993, which was also with the very first year of the Northstar.

I knew about the stop leak and the soft cams. This car had some work done around 2005 that included a cam.

4.5 was a good engine. I had a 90 Deville with the port injection, good for another 10hp or something. They had minor issues but Too bad the Allante never got the 4.9. Northstar Allantes fetch a premium. Its usually the one people want. It's a great touring car if you have money to burn. I had a 2000 Deville with the Northstar after they figured out almost all the problems. It was still a high maintenance motor. It burned oil like nothing Ive ever owned. I wish I had a Northstar now to try Valvoline Restore and Protect. That would be the ultimate test
