Shopping for my sister. (EDIT: she didn’t ask me to shop, I just find these prices crazy). She has an independent broker that has multiple companies.

Glendale, CA.

52 year old female.
54 year old male.

Already bundled with homeowners with Mercury.

2005 tundra, lots of miles
2016 mustang, not GT, rarely driven
and a 2020 Volvo S60 something

They are paying nearly $8k a year.

Seems ridiculous to me.

The answer is an agent who is offering multiple companies to choose from. I know an Insurance Agency who actually dropped Mercury because of their rates. Someone I did business for years in California.
But rates have gone way up. Are they too busy to shop their own rates? Seems like if they are in their 50's if they don't know how to do this, or somebody needs to teach them-instead of just doing it for them.
Posting insurance threads on this forum is basically a waste-too many mitigating factors-and throw in that the people with the original concern are not even the posters.....

I have Costco Connect for house and all the cars. Car insurance actually went down when I swapped the 2018 Model 3 Mid Range for the new M3P.

You will likely have trouble finding homeowners insurance, as many companies are cancelling. Good luck.

Here in Utah Costo uses -American Family for their insurance quoting. I was tuned down by them because of two glass claims-that I was told wouldn't count on the history. It didn't when I was quoted by State Farm and who I ultimately signed up with.
Something tells me if the rates the second party is paying in the OP's original post are accurate-there are mitigating factors....

Yet we have people that asks what oil to run. They can do their own research. Shut down BITOG.

Thanks. Costco might be an option

You are correct.

California and Florida members: The Costco Insurance Agency is currently not offering new auto or home insurance policies in CA or FL.

I agree with Jeff, it was his post sometime ago last year. I tried Costco connect.

For a decade now to ensure my two cars I only pay around $1000 a year. Actually less than that, but when I moved to my new state last year, my insurance company would not ensure me in the new state and I was getting quotes of around $1200-$1300. Costco connect came in at 975.

My last insurer I was happy with, but I was informed they were not writing new policies once people moved out of state, but that might not be so on the West Coast and that insurance company was esurance

There are far less mitigating factors on what oil to run than there are insurance items to consider. It's not even close.
Try again.

It's tough to find carriers who will take monoline auto business right now, especially in CA. Even if the auto premium is seemingly outrageous, if they're getting a good deal on the homeowners, it becomes a wash.

When I lived in California until 9 years ago, I found State Farm was one few insurance companies that would sell us homeowners insurance. I always wanted to combine the house and auto insurance together, but Wawanesa Auto insurance would not provide homeowners insurance at all in California . Wawanesa was unbeatable for auto insurance. Last I knew, they only provide insurance for good drivers without lots of tickets. Mercury used to advertise insurance for those that couldn’t get insurance elsewhere, so their rates seemed outrageous to me..

Clean records.
No auto claims.
No HO claims.
Credit?
Are they capable of shopping themselves?
Again-instead of you or them calling all over town a GOOD AGENT is the key here.

I have a buddy here in San Diego South Bay. He pays $4k/yr. I live in the East part of the County and pay $1300/yr.
We are the same age. He has one accident no tickets. I have nothing on my record. We both have two vehicles with full
coverage. I'm not sure who he uses but I know he shopped around. I use. Geico. We both have great credit. That is a huge
difference IMHO.

OP had same thread in 1/23 shopping for sister and she was paying $5200 then. That’s a big jump to $8k since.

I just found that thread too LOL. Sometimes my brain doesn’t work as I want it to.

I guess I should’ve worded Op differently. I’m not shopping for her and her fiancé. I’m simply amazed and looking for people with real world experiences as this is ridiculous to me

Respectfully-insurance has so many mitigating factors-it's a waste of time.
