Bypass Filters that remove Fuel

I heard of Mike Sparks mentioning in one of his posts that bypass filters remove fuel in the engine oil, but I'm unusure of which ones.

In addition, I noticed that one 6.0L PSD owner is using a TP Bypass system, and his used oil analysis have shown no fuel, where fuel dilution is an issue with that engine.

Hey Michael,

I think you are referring to me. Actually, even before I installed my bypass filter I wasn't getting fuel contamination in my oil. I guess I'm one of the lucky 6.0 PSD owners that isn't fighting the leaky injector bug (as I'm knocking on wood).

Although, you are correct in that a bypass setup removes fuel contamination. I know the TP ones do, and I also assume that the Amsoil and the cotton yarn deal will also remove fuel contamination.

I am relatively certain that no paper / tp filter removes fuel contamination. Perhaps a heated centrifuge type is the exception.

A few years ago, I called Amsoil's Tech Services and asked about the By-Pass filter removing fuel from the oil because I have heard that the Amsoil By-Pass filter removed fuel and water from oil,
I was told that it does not remove fuel but it does absorb water (remove water) from the oil.

I wonder if what you read in the post is that having a By-Pass set-up increases your oil volume thereby lowering the percentage of fuel in the oil?
As for a By-Pass filter removing fuel from the oil, how does the filter know the difference between fuel and oil?

Ok, I'm editing myself......A bypass filter removes water NOT fuel. I'm not sure what I was thinking above. I hate putting falsehoods out there.

At what rate though? As you have probably seen, I have had 3-5% fuel at every oil change since new in my F250 PSD. Now with my latest analysis it looks like the contamination rate is increasing since I have 6% at 5K miles and my driving habits have not changed.

The only filters that remove fuel are the ones that have the heating elements. The reason most of us don't have excess fuel in the oil is we don't have fuel getting in the oil faster than the heat of the engine can get rid of it. I keep hearing about injection problems. I was reading where they are installing de tuned 6.0 engines in motor homes to increase the durability. I suspect they are getting more HP out of these engines than they can take. It's kind of a horse power war.
I got a questionaire from the State of California. I knew the sales people had gotten them. Some of the questions were; does your filter take out coolant and fuel; does it put additives in the oil. The sales people had a filter that did all three.
All the TP filters do is clean oil. If you have a leaky head gasket or fuel leak you have to repair it. New oil added gives you the additives you need.
