It lightens the load to the pump marginally if set up as a parallel setup. If set up via a permacool sandwich adapter it may require slight drilling of the adapter to bring post filter psi up to its former spec, but this is a rare occurance.
The whole this and that tends to fall within normal restrictions that a full flow filter can effect on the system.
There will naturaly be exceptions. You may run into issues if you put a bypass filter on a car that already has 200k of wear on it...and the oil pump and the rest of the engine are in a finely balanced state of decay.
