Buying Spark Plugs From O'Reilly's

I need to get a set of plugs for sweetie's Prius. I was going to purchase directly from Denso, but I can save a few bucks and some time by buying from the local O'Reilly store. However, with all the talk I've heard about counterfeit plugs and parts, I'm wondering if O'Reilly is a safe bet or if I should just buy directly from Denso. Comments?

If the question can go away for "a few bucks", maybe that's the way to go?

Man, I hope O'Reilly's, AAP, AZ, Federated, NAPA etc. are trustworthy resellers.
In today's world however, it's just another delivery to a store so you can't be sure.

Anyone out there have any data on counterfeiting goods?

Oriellys will more than likely be genuine, although I do understand your concern. Have you checked Rock Auto? I would trust them to be genuine since they ship from the manufacturer warehouse.
I would not trust Amazon however.

Come on Shel, O’Reilly and other reputable stores have buying contracts with manufacturers. Retailers are heavily invested in supply chain ethics in this regard. They buy the spark plugs directly from the manufacturer not the black market.

If you’re ever worried about counterfeit goods, go to the manufacturers website and look to see if there is a “where to buy” link to see all the retailers who are known to sell the authentic product.

If O'Reilly was selling counterfeits, there would of already been a lawsuit. The minute wholesale sales go down that deviate from the norm, and they are still selling said product. The major manufactures will check into it robustly for counterfeiting and process a lawsuit for counterfeit sales.

I think they are safe. I always go there for my NGKs. I think you go to any national auto-part store and you will get the real deal. I think you run a far higher risk shopping on eBay and Amazon for getting fakes.
I'd never buy such parts from eBay or Amazon.

That company is a good retailer, but not direct sales from denso. The company you referred to also has other websites associated with them another is, sparkplugs.com which is a small family owned company in California. It's a cool story about how the dad back in the day started with motorcycle parts and moved up to automotive. I know this because I ordered my oxygen sensors from them, great service and great prices! Nothing wrong with this retailer, just had to clear the info up..

Thanks. I thought it was direct from Denso in some way.
