Yesterday I'm on the highway in my GL550, I hear a huge bang and in the rear view mirror see a large plastic part fly away. I pulled over when safe and the left rear fender flare was gone. Had pulled that side of the bumper off of the vehicle but it was easily clicked back in.

Today I'm looking at parts on eBay and the part is available to be shipped from Latvia. I've heard good things about part sellers from Latvia and how well they pack for the package to survive the trip across the ocean. But has any BITOGer had experience with Latvian car part sellers?

As part of my old BMW engine project, I've had to source parts from Latvia, Lithuania. All quality stock so far. Do your best to ensure the part is the quality you want and send it....

I remember watching Hoovie's Garage a couple of years ago when he ordered and received a complete rear clip for one of his 'Hoopties', think it might have been a VW Phaeton. Came from one of the Baltic countries. No problem with the part or shipping.

I remember that episode, I think it was for his Maybach.

I had to order a set of manual shifter cables for my 1999 volvo s70.
I found a complete shifter and cables from a salvage yard in Latvia. price was $30 for part and $100 for shipping.
WAY cheaper than similar parts found in US/Canada (when I could find them. they are getting hard to find.)

Arrived 2 weeks later.. well packaged and as described (used but in very good condition). Got my car back on the road.

Order lots of euro parts from lithuania/latvia via ebay. Can't say I've ever had a problem. Obviously every seller is different and you can't generalize about an entire country but if they have great reviews, why not?

I've bought haldex parts from a seller on eBay from Latvia and never an issue. Quality parts and much less than what I could get them for in US.

The Latvia post works well, and I’ve gotten a number of things from there… tools, small parts, even a camshaft!
