how much do you trust buying ignition parts for a vehicle or mower from amazon ?

One advantage with Amazon is their Return Policy.
1) Print 'return' barcode
2) Drop off at Kohl's

I'm not bashing Amazon in any way, but beware -
I just returned two American flags.
They were NOT what was pictured.
Sold by Amazon, shipped from Amazon .... they had to of been counterfeits.
Please do not turn this thread to a Amazon bashing.

Not at all.

I have over 200 Amazon orders this year alone. I’m a shareholder. But ignition parts are being faked, even when shipped directly from Amazon.

While their return policy is great, you won’t know they’re fake parts until you install them and they don’t work right. Can you return them at that point?

Save the hassle. Buy from a known good source; online specialist, a local shop, or dealer, for your mower/vehicle.

^^Because the manufacturer/packager/distributor and possibly Amazon itself either is dishonest or doesn't exert the effort to assure honesty.

A straightforward return policy is a step in the right direction.

Some of us here must buy a lot of things. Thrice I've been stung with bad items ordered over the internet and thrice I've been satisfied with quick, uncomplicated returns. None were Amazon. (press thumbs)

Like any purchases, pay attention. Amazon has excellent service and the family buy lots from them. I even bought Amazon Stock , I like them .

200 Amazon purchase? Rookie level.

looks like there is less than a 50/50 chance of the parts being any good... thanks guys for the info

That's very smart advice. The issue of fake and counterfeit parts is burgeoning, and the quality of aftermarket parts is slipping. The best bet for important ignition components is as you noted. FWIW, when I bought new plugs for the Camry I checked several sources for prices and found the local (1/2 mile away) O'Reilly's saved me the most money. So, whether fake or real, Amazon may not have the best prices.

Whenever I order Castrol 0W-30 Euro oil from Amazon I always have a VOA done before using it.

And I'm pretty certain I've gotten counterfeit Levis from Amazon because the belt loops pulled off and the rivets popped off within weeks of wearing.

I put some chinesium coil packs on my 05 prius. They were marketed as generic and I got what I deserved. They worked well for 5000 miles then one crapped out magestically. The car hated its sudden-onset misfire so much it switched to electric-only and shut down after that was depleted.

Ripped them all out and got some used Densos that I think were genuine.

If you get a knockoff exotic metal plug you'll likely get something that runs, but, jeez, the little tips can come off and smash your valves. Go with rockauto or an online franchised dealer.

For a lawnmower, maybe a little different. The parts pipeline is so contorted on those anyway there's a good chance of having good stuff mixed in, or at least the same stuff with different labels.

Don't ever buy platinum/iridium spark plugs there, they will be fake and wear out quickly. On other parts don't pay extra thinking you'll get an OEM or major brand part, it won't be.
