This is amazing , wish they would tell you in the article what Mk. these Spitfire are.
 
Wow.

The Castle Bromwich factory that built the Spitfires from MKII on is still in operation and owned by Jaguar. One of my XJ's was built there.

Do not count your chickens yet. If the water table rose, pressure would have forced water inside and these place will be junk. Don't even think they are in anything close to new condition until they are at the surface.

And the original doors are still in place at the plant. Thought they were more known as site of the Lancaster though...
 
The story is more about the selflessness of the farmer who dedicated the later part of his entire life to finding and preserving them - truly a patriotic, contributing member to his society and a true asset to his people.

Very good points. But still, would be neat to pull them up anyway...

Pretty sure I read elsewhere they are MkXIV with the Griffon engine.
 
Dunno...the military means of storing stuff is a little different to a 50 year old Buick in a concrete box.
