Bring a Trailer - Hysterical

BAT does a good job at curating the coolest cars that people can identify with but, over the years, they have created a market that is pushing the prices of those cars out of reach for most people. I once thought of owning an E30 M3 but BAT has almost single-handedly made sure that will never happen.

BAT attracts people with a lot of money to spend. I sold my 91 Miata with 19,000 miles for 15K. Remember a car is worth whatever someone is willing to pay. There is currently one just like mine with 3,000 miles that will likely go for 30K.

There are a lot of guys with money-that either are car enthusiasts or investors. The thing is-they are speculating that there is going to be a generation behind them that will pay more than they did when it comes time for them (or their next of kin) to liquidate their estate.

That's the interesting part-since classic cars are going for unbelievable amounts these days.

8,000 rpm redline. Naturally aspirated. Transmission feel. Lightweight. Simple. Nostalgic. Rare. Hard to find. Fun. Reliable.

Exactly. Beautiful example of a historic vehicle.

Same reason people pay big money for low mileage cars from the 50's, that often drive like crap.

The Integra Type R is one of the most appreciating classic cars out there right now.

The most overrated USDM Honda of all time. And this is coming from someone who loves the EM1 Civic, especially in Electron Blue Pearl.

I just don’t know. I can’t see it. I had that in a 96 with the regular motor. Could never get the seat right and my back ached in that car. It was an economy car. It was honda-precise and the suspension was superb, but the interior wasn’t my favorite to spend long hours in.

a strong crosswind pulled the underbody plastic off the thing in WV one morning when it was less than a year old. All those pieces just interlock together. It was a gusty day and mine was fighting to hold 65mph in buffeting winds when this wall of air (what it felt like) whipped from the right side and pushed the whole car around. The stuff beneath the car popped off from the pressure and tangled in the tires. It was a mess. A few more clips in that design would have been nice.

I would pay that much if it was a 1998 240sx exactly how i would want it with the same miles and condition. Its part nostalgia, part rarity in that condition. It only takes one big fan with some $$$ and you sold it.
