The yellow ones are supposed to be better and longer lasting. That one looks pretty good.

Looks pretty good! Most of them aren't bad filters (there are cheaper made versions too) but my issue with them is usually the cost. I've seen that filter for $25 at various stores. $1 is a steal!

I've seen that style of center tube on Wix and Premium Gaurd, but this filter doesn't really look like either.

Wix now uses louvers. All our Auto Extras (jobber WIX) have louvers

B&S doesn't make their filters. Usually farm it out to either Purolator or Wix. They make a large number of the filters on the market these days. Theses filter mfgs make them to what ever spec that B&S tells them to, usually using one or more of their own media & other components. All B&S does is mark it up & sell it as there own. I used to do a lot of business with both companies

only 3, 4 co. nation wide I think. just different paint on the cans. I like the cartridge style if set up so as to not dump oil all over. Less waiste, cleaner change.
Any one gota cut away ofa Anti Drain Back Valve equipped one?
I need/use them on a '69 250/4.1L. Never opened one, don't know how they design them. (Is it like "the yellow"- a flap down the bottom? Or is it something in the center tube?)Thnx!

The Briggs filters are usually a few more dollars but they are built extremely well.

I wouldn't call them well built. They are really just a cheap e-core with a nitrile ADBV and some fancy paint. They are certainly plenty of filter for a small engine, and can go many years without failure, but a comparable automotive filter is built the same if not better and they are cheaper.

I wouldn't hesitate to use one, and I sometimes will if I find a deal on them for my customer machines, but I also wouldn't seek them out or pay more for them.

Looks like a nice filter. I need to change the filter on my riding mower since it's about 3 or 4 years old. I keep the oil really clean in it and the hours are low since my yard is small.

Decent enough looking filter. Gives you much more media than the 492932 but your applications may be limited due to the 491056's height. Pleased to see good size inlet holes on the baseplate and holes instead of louvers in the core. The pleating looks nice and even and no sloppy excess glue. Definitely like the metal endcaps. What I didn't see here was if the inside was held together with a coil spring or a leaf spring. (I prefer coil.)

I'd say a coil spring because there is glue around the circumference of the center tube on the bypass valve end. You don't see that on filters with a leaf spring.
