Took a chance and tried Bridgestone. Not gonna make that mistake again. Had the tires for 22000 miles and there are cracks all the way around the shoulder tread. Date code on tires is 2023. It’s unacceptable and according to Bridgestone warranty they should be pro rated if this happens in under four years. I filed a claim and they inspected them. They said crazing is normal and safe. I have to say other brands Ive had have never done this. Upon further research I see many other people have had this happen with many different Bridgestone lines. Just thought I’d let readers know if you are looking for tires to buy or avoid.
Ive had great luck with Michelin, pirrelli, and continentals in the past. The reviews were good on Alenzas so I tried them. Most of the reviewers though only had a few miles on them. I thought they were great at first too, but now it looks like they have decided to digest themselves. Oh well, lesson learned.

Update. Bridgestone covered them. The ford quick lane supervisor and tire rep were just trying to pull a fast one on me. I spoke with Bridgestone directly and they said it was covered under pro rated warranty. I drove to discount tire and no questions asked they said yep it’s covered and within a half hour new Michelin cross climate 2s installed. Glad I took a chance and stopped at discount tire.

Online consumer reviews are often questionable but tire reviews are virtually useless. All kinds of people driving home on new tires and comparing them to the old crap tires they just replaced (for good reason).

There are some good resources on YouTube though. And this place is another good source of information.

I think I’ve got a Bridgestone issue as well. I’m @ about 20k and am getting some hum out of nowhere that at 1st I thought was a wheel bearing. I’m now thinking tires, the noise start @65 and goes away by 80. These were some of the quietest tires I’ve ever had until now. I also noticed a little cracking and mine are about 15 months old.

After I did more research it seems a lot of Bridgestone owners have the cracking issue. Also upon deeper research it seems owner satisfaction is not great after a few miles add up. First and early impressions are usually great though as you stated. Thats usually when people write the glowing reviews. I too was one that liked them early on then they started to digest themselves. Seems Bridgestone needs a few more research and development workers.

Why the great concern with winter driving and using an oil like HPL? That's one reason TO use it!

Live and learn I guess. I haven’t officially ruled out a wheel bearing as the culprit but I’ve never had a wheel bearing make noise between 60 and 70mph and no other speeds. I can’t say I’ve ever had tires do that either. My wife has the exact same car, just newer. I’m going to swap a tire at a time and see if I can get this figured out. She has Continental pure contacts that I know are dead silent. I happened upon these tires in Walmarts website and were 50% off. Now I know why.
