I was just curious if there was a better oil or additive to use for the process. I know there are specific oils made for breaking in an engine but they are kind of pricey.

The engine is the last variant of the ford "Lima" engine. It is a cast iron block and head with a roller cam and an eight spark plug set up. The engine calls for 5-30 API.

Thanks in advance!

Hi Randy - We would recommend our Quaker State Defy Synthetic Blend 5W-30 High Mileage Motor Oil. Quaker State Defy is formulated with extra-wear additive to help reduce wear on worn engine parts; extra seal conditioners to help reduce oil leakage; and a higher viscosity to help improve engine sealing (to increase compression and possibly reduce blow-by).

(However, please note: if by “LPI” you mean “Liquid Propane Injected,” then we would not recommend the use of the Quaker State Defy Motor Oil. Rather, we would have to consider the use of a different type of engine oil, specifically made for CNG/LNG type engines). - The Pennzoil Team
