Yes...the shop will usually pay LESS.
They pay more for better parts (to avoid having to redo because of parts failure) plus an expedited delivery charge along with a quick replacement delivery if the part is wrong or defective. That kind of service ain't cheap so as to avoid a redo and to be able to deliver the repaired car in a few hours time. Customers need their car back later that day fixed and fixed correctly.
 
Most would cry if they knew how much we spend per year on tools, information, training and insurance. I just added a Micropod 2 to have full coverage for Chrysler to add to my DRB III, 5k for the first year for the pod, Witech 2 and Techauthority plus now I get to pay per vin if I need to program a module. 3200 bucks per year for every year after
And most people on here think anything beyond a $250 Autel scanner is unnecessary.
