Brake problem

On my 95 Chevy 1500 I lost my brakes; pedal went to the floor. I took a look at the resevoir and it was empty on the valve side. I added more fluid, but the brakes have marginal power now. There are no external leaks visible anywhere. I'm thinking it's leaking inside the master cylinder. Any ideas?

Sounds like some of the seals went bad and are leaking. I had that happen to my race car. I added hi temp brake fluid and it ate what was left of the seals. Maybe a new master cylinder and flush to get all of the air out. -Malcolm

You said the resivoir was empty? Check that brake booster if it is a vacuum system for brake fluid. If there is fluid in the booster then you might want to consider a new booster as well as the master.

It has rear drum brakes? Probably wheel cylinder.

When the master went bad on my jeep it filled the brake booster up with brake fluid

You have air in the system now.
Adding fluid alone won't cut it.
Bleed the brakes.
