Brake pads with less dust available?

I had the pads changed on my car four months ago and they seem to dust the wheels more than the previous pads did. Liking to keep things clean I'm wondering if there are any low-dust pads availble.

Anybody know of any pads that give less dust?

NAPA AdaptiveOne pads use a different material on the outside which dusts less than the material on the inside.

Most of the mainstream "Ceramic" pads hardly dust at all. I'm anal about wheel cleanliness and that's what I'm going to on my cars.

Metallic (full or semi) tend to dust much more than ceramics. I just put a set of Hudson ceramic pads on the fronts of the NB and so far no dusting noticed at all.

Thanks for the quick replies. Constant brake dust drives me nuts.

Any down-falls with the ceramic other than higher price?

Some people claim that ceramic pads don't bite as hard as semi-met.

I installed Bendix CT-3s recently on my Hyundai. They stop very well, at least now they do. I think I glazed them during break-in and it took 4k miles to wear through the glaze and stop well.

Two of the more popular ceramic pads are Akebono ProAct and Bendix CT-3. The Bendix are made in Canada. The Akebonos are made in Kentucky. Check Amazon and Rock Auto to see if the pads are offered for your car.

The Napa pads another member recommended are now made in China, if that matters to you.

I recently put Wagner ThermoQuiets on the xB. They're ceramic, so no dust to speak of, and so far they grab better than the Toyota OE pads did. "Made in U.S.A." printed on the box in 3 languages.

I went with ceramics too.
I did it to solve a problem with overheating front rotors.
The regular factory pads were causing rotors to get too hot when braking with my fully loaded trailer behind me. I have had very little dust since then and no more warping rotors.

I have them on my taurus. No dust at all. If you don't use them for track days they work well. This is the hp street pads, not the soft track pads. Until u use them , educate thy self.

Ceramics dust just as much as metallics but the dust is light color and you don't notice it as much. At least from the couple thousand sets we sold at the store.
I'm using prime choice on one car. Held up 30000 miles until a caliper stuck and wore one side. They were replaced, no questions.Decent cheap ceramic pads.
Lifetime warranty if you save the receipt.

Looks like I will go with ceramics for my next pad...if I have OE brakes on my Sonata now and I change to Ceramics should I get new rotors as well or will it be fine if I jsut clean them real good?

Its not the changing of the pad but the condition of the rotor that will dictate rotor replacement. At 52K on the current rotors I think you have gotten your moneys worth.

Even the cheapest rotor will be better than what you have.

Wagner Thermoquiets - either semi-metallic or ceramic. Never had an issue with dust in the semi-metallic flavor.

I just did the brakes on my 2007 Sonata with about 65k. The rotors were super rusty. There was so much rust on the vanes that I question if they would be able to dissapate heat very well.

I replaced the rotors with Raybestos Professionals from Amazon for $27 each shipped.

I wish I would have paid a little more to get the Raybestos Advance Technology rotors. They coat all the exposed metal so it doesn't get rusty as easily.

Ceramics are generally very good for dust.
Hawk pads are great, but rather pricey and dirty.

+1 on these.

First I put a set of the Ceramics on first and didn't like the stopping power and all the dust.

The Semi Metallic Duralast Golds don't dust hardly at all and stop much better. I can wash and clean the car on a Friday night and don't even notice any dust on the rims until a few days later.
