Brake and PS fluids–routine maintenance?

I try every 2-3 years, but its more of when I remember/when it looks gross.

1 man air bleeder makes brake flushes easy/convenient to do.
PS, if I can get to the return line, I'll disconnect and flush that way. If not, just do a few rounds with the turkey baster.

Me too.

Then I had a problem, which could quite easily have resulted in a crash, and did require quite a lot of remedial work to the braking system.

Maybe I wouldn't have had a problem with a similarly neglected North American car/truck, but I rather doubt that.
