BP Visco 5000 5W40 syn

My friend Ron in Melbourne had a play with this oil and Visco 3000 15W50 on his Timken recently. V5000 very impressive as was the V3000. BP tech just told me its full PAO. ZDDP no Moly. I used this stuff way back. Seems like I was on to a good thing and didn't know it!

that's funny, a BP tech told me that it was hydrocracked, yes full synthetic, but hydrocracked.

It performed pretty well in the Fast 4s and Rotaty's synthetic oil tests however. A lot less shear than the Castrol offerings.

Tech line guy said "PAO polyalphaolefin just like Mobil 1" when I asked "what group basestock is V5000" I was surprised to find somebody knowledgeable at last on a tech line Spoke about moly, ZDDP etc. Even talked about how good V3000 15W50 is on Timken too. Maybe he was bs artiste?
