I've been using Havoline in my cars for 15 years. I put 297000 miles on a 2005 v6 Tiburon running Havoline synthetic before all of this pro ds stuff was on the shelf. Also I've been using the boxed stuff it's great in my wife's 2018 Taurus it takes exactly 6 qts so that's a win for me

First Post !!!

Welcome !!

I just ordered a box. 2013 F150 3.5 Ecoboost owner, 74k miles.

It's been on the Ford maintenance plan since new and runs out in 3 months. Motorcraft oil blend until recently when I asked for the FS for a small up charge.

Regardless, last change the paperwork said 5w-20 and they assured me that was a typo and they put in 5w-30. Sucks because now I was nervous and I was towing 7000lbs the next day.

I'm gonna suck out whatevers in there and put in a this Havoline for the summer. The next oil change will be my last with the dealer.

I have old German Castrol laying around but I guess that's too much Calcium for my Ecoboost. I was using that in my SVT Focus (RIP).

If this thread didn't come out I was going to buy Rotella Gas Truck but even with the rebate it would be more expensive than the Havoline since I need 6 quarts. Other option was GSUD.

Thanks BITOG! I am happy and sad that I need to start doing oil changes again. Happy because I will know its done right. Sad because the analysis paralysis has begun again with respect to choosing motor oil.

Me too.

Another size that should be available is 4 quarts. 1 gallon. How many small car owners complain about buying a 5 quart jug, and having that leftover quart?

Maybe get rid of the 5 quart jug altogether. 4 liters would make a lot more sense. Think of all of the world market cars, and the metric system.

OEMs should also stop using random volume for oil pans. Standardize. Design the oil pan to hold 5 quarts, if the popular size is a 5 quart jug. Not 5.4, 5.7, 4.5 quarts......or some other crazy number.

The "problem" is when an engine needs more than 5 quarts and you need to purchase an extra single quart or two (usually at a crazy price). I've had a couple engines like this and it's why I started purchasing oil in 5 gallon pails.

-What about our non-US friends? I'm sure they would prefer to have some whole number of liters instead of quarts.

Oh, the web we weave... LOL...

PimTac how many miles you have on that Havoline now?

Don't rush me. ...

I have several hundred on it. It does run very smooth and quiet. I plan on putting a few hundred on it next week

After watching that video, I have either been saying Havoline wrong this whole time or its a regional thing. I have been pronouncing it like Valvoline.
