Well I went with the General Altimax Arctic for our 2012 Civic today. I read many reviews from "experts" and actual users of this tire and the response has been positive for the most part, so I decided to give it a try. Our street is sheer ice and so far so good, traction is decent. Car being equipped with traction control also helps. I am looking forward seeing how well these perform in February when I drive through the mountains of BC into Vancouver Island.

I ended up buying them at Canadian Tire. It ended up being a little bit cheaper than ordering online from TR or DTD.

If anyone is in the market for tires, CT has a 25% off sale going on right now.

Couple guys in my diesel club rave about them, enjoy that trip to BC.

We need a Road Trip forum with pictures.

Got them on my nissan versa. Amazing tires, very very drivable even on regular roads without snow. Tread dosent wear down fast either so thats a huge plus!

Well we got about 3-4 inches of snow today and I felt like I was driving on dry pavement. I should have bought these for my Lexus -- would have saved $$$$ over the Toyo Observe GSi5s I bought in the fall. Mind you, the Toyos are an excellent tire.

they are squishy beyond belief on dry days (compared to performance all-seasons and ultra-high performance summers)....at the great pricepoint of the Altimax Arctic , can't have your cake and eat it too.

A good all-rounder is Nokian Hakka R, but they are more than double the price of the Altimax Arctic.

I take it by your location/conditions that you bought the full pattern studded versions??

No studs on mine. Studs will ruin my driveway.

I have/love them as well. I have not been able to test them out this year yet

. We've had a lot of rain (and warm weather), but no snow.

No stud marks even on my smooth garage floor after 8 years of studs. Same story with my most of my buddies. I've never even noticed any effects from the frequent minor wheel spin on the short sloped concrete section leading to the garage. Just avoid spinning them as much as possible and avoid turning the wheel while stationary. The exception is one with a 7500 lb truck. He has had a few marks on the driveway at times. There's always some front tire slip when turning with that solid front axle - especially in 4WD - and there's a lot of pressure on those tires.

Good tire choice, anyway.

Had a set on my Ford Fusion. Excellent tire !!! Just picked up a set of used oem wheels for my Subaru. Will put Artic's on those. Should be an amazing combo.
