So I need some opinions. I had replaced my rotors and front pads about 2 weeks ago. The car shook very bad which ended up finding out the rotors were installed incorrectly. So I went to napa and of course all they had was the organic pads. Well they suck. Dust like crazy, do not bite well and they dont feel as secure when stopped on steep hills. Very unhappy. Should I just deal with what was obviously a poor choice or take them back and get ceramics? What do you guys think? Are organics always this bad?

If the rotors were the problem, why did you get a second set of pads? If you aren't happy with them then you should replace them.

The pads were half worn so figured it I was going to replace rotors might as well do it all and be done for awhile.

Which is the correct thing to do. But, didn't you replace both pads and rotors two weeks ago? So why replace them again if it was the new rotors that were faulty?
 
What pads did you go with? They would have to be really bad to have all of these issues. How many miles do you have on them? Any chance they are just new and not bedded in yet?

Sorry I wrote that kind of awkwardly i realize. What I meant was I replaced the rotors and pads. Because of the shaking. The shaking is why I replaced the rotors and pads.the rotors I installed are fine its just the pads. How long should they take to break in?
 
Organic pads stop as well as anything else for me. I'm not racing. Sure you may need to clean the wheels every now and then. I just can't imagine buying a set of pads and feeling like they aren't 'biting' well.
 
You probably bought NAPAs cheapo "Tru Stop" pads.Avoid them like the plague.Look at country of origin.....China! Pads here are usually made in US or Canada,not China.
 
I would guess that your vehicle is spec'ed for semi-metallic pads or maybe ceramic. Organic would be below spec. If they sold you organic, they did not sell you the proper pads for your vehicle and thus should order you the proper ones and credit the organic pads.
 
i have organic pads from autozone on the lancer. It was the only one that had lifetime. Been on there for about a year now. Solid pads, my first time knowingly installing organic pads.

Yes, take them back. NAPA should happily take the pads back in return for a better pad(just pay the difference). Especially if you're not happy with the ones that you first bought.

Agreed, I make a new pot if the current one is over about 45 min old...

Just because something is Made in China does not automatically make it junk. You would be amazed with the number of Made in China vehicles are made with. Yes, even your domestic brand's have tons of Chinese parts on them. I would watch the parts truck drop off OEM parts in the am at the dealer and its pretty crazy how many parts are from China. GM, Ford, Chrysler, Nissan, Toyota, Honda, everyone uses them.

Quality comes down to the customers specs, price point, manufacturer and quality control. Country of origin doesn't make something good or bad over all.

Yes Indeed!
Ceramic brake pads have eliminated any issue that I've always disliked(HATED) with non ceramic pads such as:

Noise: weather it was high pitched squeel or low tone GROAN when the brakes are either very hot of very wet.

Black Dust: With the acception of, Oh lets say CENTRIC ceramic Pads, I have no more black dust on my aluminum wheels. The Ceramic dust doesn't seem to inpregnate itself into the aluminus wheels(as easily as other pads) allowing easier cleanup. I'd like ceramic even if I had OE Steelies w/wheel covers, for all of the other reasons

Consistant Braking: Regardless of the outside tempuratures(summer/winter), wet/dry or icey, my braking always feels the same. Even when I'm driving on the highway out of town/vacation and traveling through the mountains for PA, WVA, VA etc. and I have to brake hard. The Ceramic brakes feel Goooood whether it around town driving or on the hiwy.

Reasonable Cost: I buy online or localy with discounts which make the ceramic brakes cost nearer to semi-mets or other types. I don't use High Performance Brake Pads as they seem to need more heat to be effective. And I don't care for that! When HP Brakes are cold, I've almost rearended other cars

This is just my .02 cents
