Bought new Black+Decker mower!

I was in the market for a new mower. I wanted something similar to what I had (21 inch push, Briggs and Stratton 163cc). Prices for something like this were ranging from 350-400. I found a new 2022 model Black and Decker for sale online from Walmart for 240! Typical MTD. It's a 500E 140cc Briggs and Stratton engine with a prime bulb. Step down from the auto choke 163cc, but I can't tell the difference. PS i think this might have been the last year Black and Decker offered gas engine mowers.

those auto-chokes suck.
140cc is a bit of a bummer since they have toros and such with 190cc's..
but no autochoke is absolutely GREAT!.

Definitely a better buy than the hyperpuff junk walmart sells (hypertough)

if it was a 190cc I'd be all over that.. I need a trimming mower and would prefer abit more beef.

Definitely dont want one like this

Yeah that autochoke didn't run well after all those years. Had to buy a whole new muffler if the autochoke thermostat busted.

When I run the model number through MTD, it comes up as some other brand. I can't find much about it!

Probably just a branding deal they had with Walmart.

This looks identical to my first mower I bought in 2015. A Yard Machine brand with a red deck, mine was front wheel, self propelled, but same engine.
The 140cc at factory RPM wasn't great in tall St Augustine grass in Florida.
I bought a digital tachometer and set the RPM to ~3700. It worked great and plenty of power at that speed! But, it still didn't mulch grass all that well, because of it's basic deck shape.
