Ok, I picked up a 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee with the Dana 44 rear end and the Dana 30. It has 34k on it, and the original pumpkin juice...

Limited slip in the back. Manual says 75/140 front and rear.

Going to Oreilly in the morning to get a buncha stuff, oil, diff fluid, etc..

Valvoline Synpower 75/140 or Royal Purple 75/140 in this new Jeep? Both have the LSD additive so that's good. I'm doing the work in the morning so I'm buying locally. Both are the same price. I *can* get some Amsoil Severe gear from a guy about 30 miles away at the same price as the other listed.. It is an option.

Which would you pick? I have RP in our other GC with the d30 and d35, but since this one is specced differently I want to get your knowledgable advice again..

That's a first, no one with an opinion?

From what I've gathered in the past, especially for Ford LS's, the LSD packages are not robust enough and most folks have had to add some additional LSD additives. Surprised that the Jeep is requiring 75/140 in the front, usually a 75/90 would go up there unless your rock crawling.

My local NAPA has 75W-140 synthetic Pennzoil on the shelf.I've been using this in both my Jeeps' rear axles for a few years with good results.I allways put in half a bottle of the Mopar limited slip additive in each axle because they are Trac-Loc axles and don't want to mess around with the plastic fill plug once I'm done the job.Actually I use this axle fluid in a 01 Jimmy as well with no complaints. The front axles get 75W-90 Pennzoil synthetic and run just fine after 100,000 miles on the Cherokee...got 65,000 on the TJ.

Sounds good. I'd personally add a bottle of the Mopar limited slip additive to the rearend. I know you said the lube you plan on using has it already, but it won't hurt to have extra. It'll just help keep your limited slip alive in the long run.

I'd grab the pennz in a moment if it were available at my Napa stores. Only pennz I can find is 80/90 dino at walmart.

which model WJ do you have??

I have 02 laredo 4.7 NV242.

Run Amsoil series 2000 75W-90 in the diffs, mine are open diffs. Do you have the quadra drive diffs, not many had the trak lock and only in the Laredo.
