Congrats!!!!.

Hopefully this simple car gives you long/enjoyable service life. Its a nice car and will be more enjoyable old then some econobox.

Congrats!

I've been eyeing these things up as my Focus ages. I think i'd probably spring the extra coin for the 2.0 turbo as I've never owned anything with a turbo before

I can tell you that I paid less for this car than most of the Cruzes on the lot due to it being a '14.

Drove it the hour home tonight. Pretty peppy and comfortable for the wife and I.

I'm taking it for Krown rust proofing on Saturday.

People still do that? I had Ziebart rustproofing done back in the early '80s on a new car, but these days, with galvanized sheet metal etc., I don't think you need it.

Great car. I'm a GM fan, mostly anyway. With reservations. They usually get it right.

Cars certainly rust less than before. However, that doesn't do anything for brake lines, fasteners, etc. People always have the conversation that new cars don't rust. Then 5-10 years later they are left wondering what happened.

Well I've had this thing for over 3 months now and almost 12,000 miles of driving and I have to say it's been good so far. No issues with the car and the dealer has been doing the free oil changes without incident.

There's a reason why Buicks have a strong following still. They're good cars. Not as pricey or electronics-bedecked as Cadillacs, but better appointed and quieter than Chevrolets.

They were once referred to as a "doctor's car," the idea being, I guess, that when a doctor made house calls, he didn't want his patients to think he was getting rich off them, so no Caddy -- but he wanted to be seen as prosperous. Hence the Buick.

FWIW, I purchased a new 2012 Verano 2.4L (Mocha Bronze Metallic) in October, 2012. I currently have just over 320,000km. (200,00mi.). This car has been around most states, three trips from home (Ontario, Canada)to the west coast, one trip to the east coast.

The only problem I have had with it is the leather(?) separating from the gearshift handle. The gas mileage could be better but it falls in the acceptable range. The Average Mileage readout shows 6.9l/100km (40mpg imp./34mpg US) straight highway driving at 110/120kmh(70/75mph), very rough calculations give about 7.1L/100km.(39mpg imp./33mpg US)

I'm retired, and yes I travel a lot.

Oh, and to keep BITOG happy, with the exception of the factory fill the car has seen nothing but Mobil 1 0W-40, TCW3 and MolySlipE. (http://www.molyslip.com/products/oilfuel-supplements/molyslipe-wear-reducing-oil-supplement/)

Best car I ever bought was a used 2005 Buick La Sabre for my parents in law back in 2007 with 80K miles on it. That car is still going strong with over 200k on it. Outlasted the brand new Toyota Sienna we bought the same year which blew a head gasket this year at 130k.

Glad to hear it's been a good car so far!

The Delta platform that underpins the Verano (and Cruze) is proving to be reliable as it ages. Solid when new, and solid down the road.

I have lots of Verano experience !!

The local GM dealer always gave me a new Verano as a loaner car when my GMC was constantly in the shop for warranty work. I drove 6 or 7 of them.

Good luck with it !
