Here's the thing: "Stupid" is not an inherently genetic trait. It's the result of a combination of an individual and his or her environment. Someone who is brilliant in one context could be a complete idiot in another, and vice versa. You can't eradicate stupidity just by letting the "stupid" people kill themselves. The only way to get rid of it would be to make people and society completely uniform, which I'm sure you'll agree would be a nightmare.
Moreover, how do you define "stupid?" Where does innocent foolishness end and unforgivable idiocy begin? Who are you to make that call? Who is ANYONE to make that call? And since when is the disregard of sympathy a good thing for humanity? Perhaps all you mean by "stupid" is someone's propensity to die early. But it's clear that that is no longer the final word on someone's worth to humanity.
Now, I am NOT advocating a nanny-state in which people aren't allowed to make mistakes and own their failures. I'm just saying that "letting stupid people die" effectively involves either total authoritarianism or complete anarchy, neither of which is a good thing.
