Bosch Icon Wipers?

Anyone try these? A passing cold front today prompted the use of the wipers and one of them "split" and so I stopped to purchase new ones. As luck would have it, AZ had the RainX Latitudes on sale for buy 1, get 1 @ 50% off. But as my luck would have it they only had 1 22" wiper. So I opted for the Bosch Icons (which appear to be very similar in design).

As from the fact they were new, these wipers do seem work much better than any I have had in the past. Just wondering about others experiences--do they last longer than the cheaper wipers and are they worth it?

I've had similar experience with Bosch-wipers, for the first month or so they are exellent but after that they are rubbish.
They are rather expensive too.

+1

Not worth the price for them. I'm now using the AZ brand that was buy 1 get 1 at 50% and they seem to do just as well as Boschs' but much less expensive.

The Icon blades (and those of similar ilk) never worked on my Audi 200. The windshield shape must have not been optimal. For my old F-150, any of those new style wipers work fantastic, and the same with my G. I haven't tried the Icons lately, though, since I get Anco blades less than half of what I can get anything else for.

wow, I had a complete different with the Bosch. I bought rain x for my wife's tC and Bosch icon for my tC, hers started steaking within 6 months and mine after about 18. Hers are really bad and mine very minimal, two years later and I'm still rocking them.

I just put them on a month ago. So far they are the best wipers I ever used. Winter and ice is unknown, will be here soon. At $35 bucks they better last, or I'll be in that Autozone clerks grill.

Same here. I've had them on my Dakota for close to 2 years now, and the truck sees a lot of outside storage in the summer (24x7 from April until December-ish). The blades are just now starting to show streaking.

Never used the Icons, but I've used Bosch micro edge over the years and they worked and lasted fine. The Ancos are the cheaper blades that don't last as long. Trico Exact-fit also worked well for me but lasted on average 4-6 months.

Bosch actually increased their prices on these when they transferred their manufacturing of them to China (from Belgium).

I REFUSE to pay MORE for the same (albeit lower quality) product from China!

I had a Belgian-made set of these when they first came out, and they were impressive for about a year and a half, then went downhill.
I cannot imagine how bad they may be now made in Sino-land, let alone paying MORE coin for them!

Can't replace the squeegees. Therefore they are worthless. Way too $$ to not be able to replace the rubber parts.

PIAA is what I have used for years.

Yes, you can replace the insert of the beam type wiper. Youtube has some videos how to do it.

I used the Icons for about 3 months before they started to streak like crazy. I emailed Bosch about it and was sent another pair and those did the same thing.

To be fair though, the Michelin equivalent blades did the same in the same amount of time so it just may be my application or that my car is parked outside & uncovered.

So, fresh cheap blades for me from now on.

Ive done it on the OE ones on my wife's VW. I couldnt see a n easy way to do it on the bosches, especially after a few years of UV.

My PIAA wipers replace in a snap and it is never an issue.

No thanks, beams. Just another business model to get people to pay more for stuff.

I put Icons on my car and the wifes car. Been on there for months and still work better than any other wiper I've tried. Dead quiet, no studdering, no streaking.
