Bosch Distance Plus oil filters exist only on web

I called Bosch this morning to inquire about their Distance Plus oil filters. Conversation went something like this:

John > Where can I buy your Bosch Distance Plus oil filters?

Bosch > We only make two, the premium and the filtec.

John> I saw the Distance Plus on your web site.

Bosch > Are you asking about Bosch or Pure?

John > Bosch

Bosch > Where did you see these?

John > Bosch.com

Bosch > They are probably a european oil filter.

John > I saw them on the USA site. Why don't you check
your site?

Bosch > I will check and call you back.

To give Bosch credit, they called back within 5 minutes.

Bosch > The web site people jumped the gun. These will be
available after the 1st of the year.

I assume these will be something like a pure one, M1, delco ultraguard gold, etc. in design and engineering?

The thing I didnt see, and have never seen except for the analysis of AC Delco ultraguard gold, is flow/pressure drop vs. holding capacity. more media may hold more and may filter better, but at some point, flow is a big requirement too, perhaps more important in fact...

I for one am not convinced that the Distance Plus is any real improvement over PureOne. P1 is stated 99.9% efficient, cheap, widely available, and has nearly all the same features as the Distance Plus, maybe not the heavy can--but P1 does have the yelloy grippy-paint!

Now, if Bosch brought back that legendary awesome cobalt blue metallic paint of PureOne lore, then I might become an addicted customer!

More media area=improved flow in general, due to more available flow area.

I think you can maximize the value and flow performance of these very efficient filters by going oversized if possible.

one thing is for sure they reply their e-mails after million years but folks at Bosch have always called me back always immediately and they keep trying to get hold off ya if you missed their call...I love Bosch*!




*As long as I can get their parts for cheap via contacts!

That's confusing in red above ... from their website, it seems the "Premium" is the "Filtec".

The #3311 in black color I got at autozone has all the features they list for the distance plus except the red coated gasket. The spiral center tube is a distinguishing feature I believe.

Many Bosch filters currently have spiral center tubes, since it is a Purolator design.

I know wix has a spiral, but don't remember seeing any purolator or clone having it, but could be mistaken. I think bosch is transitioning to the new line from the looks of the 3311 I got. The 3330 bought same time and also has puro baseplate, has no spiral tube, and box says 98% not 99.9% like the smaller 3311.

Not all the features. The Distance Plus says synthetic media, the black Premium has cellulose + synthetic media.

It says synthetic fiber media which I think will be more like it is now then a filter such as an Amsoil synthetic filter.

So they finally hit the streets ... but, ouch! on the price.

Think I'll stick with a PureONE for $5~$6.

I believe Bosch DistancePlus filters are available at Advance Auto Parts retailers. They can also be found on Amazon, but I believe you know this already.

i was thinking about leaving a distance plus on for 2 oil changes (12 months/12k miles) but with the high cost it's cheaper to just change out pureones every oil change. why would anyone waste money on these things?
