Boeing Joins "recall" parade

Sigh. Well, considering how many are in flight, and how long the 737 has been in service, it has a very, very impressive safety record. Something had to happen at some point.

It's amazing how long some of those planes last, considering the stress that the airframe experiences every time it flies.

Northwest (now Delta) was still flying DC-9's from the 1970's until recently. I'm sure there are more examples.

Overall though, I would feel safer flying in something like a 737, with a proven safety record, as opposed to some of the newer planes.

+1. Done right, a recall just means that someone was paying attention. As they should be.
