“My work is done here,” he wrote from a restaurant in Geneva at the Geneva Motor Show. “The whole organization, top to bottom, now has absolute product superiority as the highest objective which enables all others. So, I can retire in peace.”

Now THAT'S confidence in a company as you leave it!
That is corporate talk for I got my golden parachute .

Obama"s Government Motors has given another lifetime pension to a nut case,,,,,,,,,,,,,,That's why Ford Motor Company's sales are up 43 percent,,,,,,,,,,,,,Am I politically correct??

He retired once already, because he didn't get along with Rick Wagoner, but was brought back when wagoner was forced out. He led the effort that brought us the Viper, but also said as recently as 2003 said hybrids and electric cars were stupid and would never sell, then headed the chevy volt development and recently said the government should tax gas more, so a mixed career, but a car guy no less.

A quote used for an apostrophe and 13 commas at a time, my seventh grade English teacher would be rolling over in her grave. Oh wait, she was creamated.

Cremated you mean?

Just giving you a hard time.

One of the few people in Detroit who knew what they were doing. If he didn't have both hands tied behind his back GM would have been a shinning star.

He's a car guy instead of a corporate actor.

+1

The guy's 78 and spent his life in the industry giving us some great cars along the way. And all that gets him around here is simple minded GM bashing by people who don't know, and don't want to know.

On a lighter note, I remember when our American autoworkers; could have been GM went on strike in the 70s era and I remember the nightly news showing them laying on the beaches in Florida drawing their checks and laughing about it. Oh, I don't hold grudges, guess I was jealous cause I wasn't there. I'm not angry anymore , but I guess that's why autos are so cheap now, they have seen the error of their ways and I know they won't do that anymore..........rite....

Government Motors owes me a free car in return for my taxes. What a payoff to the UAW that bailout deal was!
There is no hatred of General Motors on this board, there is a loathing of Government Motors, though.

BINGO!

I am among many, owned many GMs and have been very happy. But the second they became socialized and used my tax money to bail out the union. Never will I buy a new GM untill that loan is paid back in full.

Would you like to add one more to your fleet? I have a GM vehicle I can't seem to give away! :)

Lutz is an asset to a real manufacturer....as stated before, he is a "carguy". Now Whitacre, another story! His prior company
MAKES NOTHING! (ATT) All outsourced, everything. No country can survive like that, as we can see by this economy.
What I want is the latest GM 4cyl. inside of a Ford auto,
they are making the greatest engines right now...
