I like my black wheels, thank you very much.

I don't know about other automakers but with BMW it is the board which decides on the design not the head of BMW design.

Yes, the front grill is getting panned in BMW enthusiast forums. IRL it'll probably look okay and I'm sure it'll grow on people like the Audi grill has grown on people. There was a revolt when Audi opened up their grill to insure the the front end / hood were in compliance with EU pedestrian impact regs.

Scuttlebutt is that the Asian market really likes prominent grills and that's where the $$ is.

I don't mind the black wheels so much as it often hides the hideous designs of some of them.

roofless's VW looks pretty good though.

I like the big grill look and black wheels to a certain extent..as sales show many other buyers don't mind either.

Some people eat Tide Pods too, that doesn't mean they're good to eat...

Good for you...personally, I think chrome wheels would look much better...

Not according to many consumers that like BMW products. The video I posted shows this Hooydonk clown clearly on the defensive about these tacky huge grills.

Personally I find them reminding me of this. Bottom line is that BMW has increasingly sold their "soul" for the last red cent.

To me it's not the size of the grille but the fact that they have deviated from the kidney design. Too many angles to make it fit.

Though, I would be perfectly fine with it if they would bring back hydraulic steering.

The grille wars will be just like the horsepower wars, which are still raging on. (Uh, Hem.....Demon). Audi started it, and it took me a while to warm up to it. Now I ove it, which proves you can get used to anything. Lexus took it too far and it only looks good on the LC, IMO. It looks particularly ridiculous on their SUVs. Now BMW wants in on the game. Hideous, so thankfully I can't afford one, so that monstrosity is everyone elses' problem.

The "look at my grille" started, IMO, with the 1994 Dodge Ram. Look at the current U.S. lineup, Ford especially. They look like chrome barn doors coming at you.

Now, black wheels.....here's what I see when a black-wheeled car drives by:

Black Wheels.webp

"The North American market is unique due to very, very cheap gas. That allows a lot of manufacturers to offer very simple cars that are by shear nature of the beast very reliable. BMW could do same."

So there is a correlation:
simple = reliable
complicated = not reliable

" Man ! ... look at that stylish trendsetting ride ... thankfully that proud owner displayed it on that flatbed or parked it there for everyone to see how awesome it is ! "
- said no one ever.

I agree, I really don't like the all blacked out wheels trend. Makes the vehicle looks half finished.

What I find more hideous and comedic than huge grilles are HUGE brand badges. Those things are wretched.
