NO doubt whatsoever, at least in the 300 treadwear class.

Hey if they're Proxes 4 I set fast lap at a road course event in those! Probably the best all season out there, but a little noisy.
Note for the treadwear nuts: they are also 300-rated tires.

Tire prices took a huge jump recently, I hope you guys have all priced those PSS's. They're almost 400 bucks apiece in my sizes!
 
I'm pretty sure the Proxes 4 worked nicely in some sizes and not so nicely in others. I got decent grip out of the Proxes 4 on my old car, but ride and feel stank. The Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS Pole Position edged it out in dry grip, beat it noticeably in the wet, blew it away in the snow, and rode and responded so much better that people thought I had upgraded my suspension.

Were they really that good??!

I was considering the 960s, but looking at their VERY all-seasonish, over-siped, pedestrian/grocery getter tread pattern, I figured they could not be better in the dry than my G Force Super Sport all seasons.

The BFGs were also ~$50.00/tire LESS than the 960s in my size, and the much worshipped Michelin being their parent company/owners I figured the quality/longevity/durability would not be too poor either.

But yes, it definitely was that much BETTER than the Proxes 4 on my old car in that size (225/50/16).

Having said that, I'm sure there are plenty of tires that will match or beat it in any given individual area. Also, that was 3-4 years ago, so I'm sure things have moved on since then. At the time I bought it, I needed an all-rounder, and it delivered in spades; if I lived further north or south than I do, I may have decided differently.

I would agree with the first part of this statement. RE960 offers great 3-season wet/dry performance for an all-season tire. But the tidbit about being a weapon in the snow, I'd only agree with it if it was a weapon of self destruction.

I have them in size 235/45/17 (W-rated), and in my application, I thought they seriously sucked in snow, even for an all-season. That's why I ended up getting dedicated winters later. I found the RE960 outright useless during winter. It might be a size/speed rating issue though. Wife had them in size 195/65/15 (H-rated) on her Jetta, and they seemed slightly better, but still nothing to write home about.
 
How tires behave seems to be a very specific characteristic unique to each car.

Many people love Blizzak WS50 tires. I can't wait until mine finally wear out.

This is true, performance does vary wildly by application.

No snow here, but ANY tire in 275 width on a 20 inch wheel (as on my car) is going to perform poorly! I also note that many tires change from good to bad in their lifetime.
 
Very pleased with the Bridgestone RE960s (245/40-18) on my wife's 530i with sport package. Of course, the 530i isn't an M5, but when I drive it, I make sure the adaptive suspension is performing properly, which sometimes puts me directly in the dog house. It's worth it, though!
 
So, the Toyo's spin pretty easily.......

BTW, this car tracks perfectly straight when spinning. It's actually hard to tell it IS spinning unless you have the window down to hear it and ignore the tach wrapping itself very quickly, LOL!

Not like the Mustang, which used to throw it's bottom around like a randy tart.
 
Despite what the hot rodder set says about independent rear ends the IRS in most higher powered cars I've owned and/or driven always seemed to come out of the hole better than a solid axle.

Funny that the Toyos spin on your car, on mine they yield 1.8x sixties at the strip! Are they really Proxes 4's???

BTW, you got me looking at Pilot Super Sports now at just shy of 400 bucks EACH! [censored] you.
 
OK, they say "Proxes T1R on them"

The back tread is different from the front tread.

And they really suck.

Car full of FIVE PEOPLE.

I'm in 2nd, pull 3rd, hit 4,000RPM and the traction control light is flashing as she lights them up. This is MAYBE 1/2 throttle???????

Seriously, that really indicates you need some real rubber under the beast. You're going to really like the difference.

I don't know. Nothing like dropping to 3rd to pass somebody and you start blowing the tires off half-way by them......
