Hi guys,
Just got the results from my first UOA.
The car is BMW M2 G87, S58 engine.
The oil is BMW LL04 5W30 used for 4000 Miles.
I have a 2% fuel dilution, but before taking the sample i did 2 very short trips with the car in cold temperature. I dont use this car for short trips, only long trips. Is it possible that 2 short trips in cold weather to do that 2% fuel dilution?
In the report you see 2 columns, the first one is new oil and the second is used oil.
Can you take a look and tell me what do you think?

Results.webp

Looks good. To do UOA properly, you need to get the oil temperature to the operating level and then drive for 10-15 minutes. So, fuel would not be a concern here.
It did not shear that much, but I would use something like Mobil1 ESP 5W30, Motul X-Clean EFE 0W30, PPE 5W30 L, that have higher Zinc levels.

The calcium results are strange. Particularly, the virgin value of 452. The used value of 1249 looks normal. Regarding fuel, I don't think your 2% result is bad considering your 2 short trips in cold weather. Typically, I will take the vehicle for a 30+ mile highway drive before sampling. It could be that your 2 short trips did introduce some transient fuel into the sample. Not enough to be a concern IMO. Next sample, do a longer drive before sampling.

This.
The VOA value is not correct.

How many miles on the car in total?
Oil looks good for its purpose. Lots of life left in it with TBN at 4.9 to get to 7500km and get to half-way between BMW warranty oil changes. I would stick with this oil until warranty runs out.
Unfortunately, I would not trust the "new" oil report an as new oil does not "gain" additives. Additives get "used up" as the oil is worn.
Regardless, it is a nice used oil report.

Hi Nathan!
The car has 16000 Km or 10000 Miles in total.
I know nothing about oil, but i did a little research on my own and indeed the new oil report looks very strange to me, basically all the additives are less than in the used oil. The biggest difference is calcium which is 400, and what i've read it should be more than 1000 in an ACEA C3 SN type of oil.
There can be 2 possibilities for this weird numbers:
1. When i took the sample i just opened a 1L bottle and poured about 50ml from the very top of that bottle. After that i read that the oil should be agitated before taking the sample because the heavy particles will sit on the bottom of the container
2. The used oil was put in by the dealer and this new one was bought from another place. So maybe it's a "fake" oil ?...

About the service interval, do you know how much is here in Romania ? It's 20000 Miles !

Wow 20k mi not 20k km?
Will you be doing all the oil changes outside of the dealership?
It's hard to imagine that all of those additives were just separated on the bottom of the bottle like that. I suppose it does come out of suspension after a while. Perhaps it was old and sitting on the shelf for a while.
Shaking the bottle is a good practice, just like draining the oil when hot, taking the sample half way through the drain, etc.
If you're looking for a better oil, perhaps try Motul Specific LL-01 FE or XCESS Gen 2. I'm not sure what brands are available in Romania.

Keep it at 10-15,000km at most!
