My friend Debbie is a widower who I help with car stuff since her wonderful husband Ken passed way too early.
Debbie has a 2019 BMW i8 Roadster (mid life crices car extraordinaire) that uses those Bridgestone S001 sticky tires.
They are close to $500 a pop. You get 15K outta them...

I am suggesting something like the Bridgstone RE980 or perhaps a Michelin.

Your thoughts?

Check out the Michelin Pilot sport AS4 if they have them in her size.

What about the YOKOHAMA YK740 GTX? Long wearing and affordable from discout tire. If your friend doesn't drive much it might be worth a look.

Expensive cars have expensive maintenance.
As noted the tires that fit the car are not cheap but far from "$500 a pop".
If they are still too expensive it may be time to sell the car.

The Costco prices for the Bridgestone S001 that came on the i8 are:
fronts: $740 plus tax
rears: $938 plus tax

Debbie wants tires that last longer than 15K so she asked me for advice.
Her plans are to keep the Beemer.

They seem to be about 300$ cheaper at my costco and considerably cheaper online.. does costco pricematch?

Are you looking at Bridgestone S001 for a 2019 BMW i8 ?
yes.
costco bridgestones
rears were 413.99 ea
fronts were 370 ea
150 instant savings

tirerack 365x2
323 x2

If it were mine, I'd go a little wider and run the Pilot AS4.

Those are the prices i quoted, but out the door.
Plus, I am looking for a less aggressive tire. Those ultra sticky tires only go 15K.

you didnt quote "out the door" you said +tax.
you also left off the 150 instant savings.
it does look closer to 500 each that way though ;)

Not exactly

Since I wouldnt go with that tire its not exactly relevant however.

I would go with the pilot 4s, or if she doesnt drive it hard enough to need summer tires, the pilot sport AS4
