BMK-11 install options

I just bought a BMK-11 (single) bypass system and a mount from Tri-County Machine. Im having a difficult time deceiding where to run my return line.The intake line is easy on 97 Dodge diesel, but Im not real happy about punching the pan or running to a valve cover.I saw a few posts on a sandwich adapters , but Im not up to speed on how they`re installed , how they work or where to get them.
My question is, what other options do I have???
I bought a BK1301 swivel cap from Amsoil because they said it would fit, but it does not.

You appear to be just a few miles from me ..over the river (if mapquest is correct). Never heard of Cedarville. Now North Coventry Twp?, sure.

I'll defer to your fellow diesel jocks for your solution ..but here's allegedly what you need

Dodge 5.9L Cummins Diesels
To ease installation of the BMK11 in 2004 and later model Dodge pickups equipped with the 5.9L Cummins diesel engine, AMSOIL offers the new 1/8" NPT - 1/4" JIC fitting (BP241), the Aluminum Billet Oil Fill Cap for Dodge 5.9L Cummins diesels (BK1301) and the 90-degree JIC Elbow (BP242). The BP241 fits onto the existing plug on top of the OEM full-flow filter mount, and the addition of the BK1301 eases the installation of the oil return line.

I have the same kit in mine. I went the oil pan route but don't think I'll do that again.. I've often wondered just putting a whole in the side of the oil fill tube would work? It's plastic and patchable if it didn't work. The oil return is the best place but as you mentioned, there really is nothing for our model years.

I have all the correct fittings from Amsoil, but the Alum. cap they said would fit. (I actually called twice and comfermed it with the tech guys). Whats the deal Gary with these sandwich adapters? Would that work ? Oh, and Cedarville is just west of the new Lowe`s on 100, except we dont have a zip there.

I installed one of the Amsoil swivel fittings in a replacement Stant oil filler cap (mainly because the OE cap is a hollow ratcheting cap)...at $11 for the Stant cap from the local parts house and $12 for the swivel fitting, it is fairly inexpensive.

I also mounted my filter back under the bed on the passenger side, in front of the front hanger for the leaf spring. I bolted it to a bed crossmember, not the frame. Although I was told flow would be hindered in cold temps, I have not had any issues with decreased flow return with temps even at -5*F.

I know there are a lot of other mouting location options and is literally left to your imagination.

I like the oil filler cap location because you can periodically check the return flow to ensure the filter has not plugged.

My only suggestion is to use teflon tape, not a paste. And do not over tighten the fitting into either the Amsoil mount or the top of the OE filter housing (you can overtighten and split the aluminum)...

Oh, an neither of you are too far from me either...Pottstown (actually Stowe) was my old stomping grounds for about 3 years...

a sandwich adapter is installed at the oil filter mount...you just screw it in place ..then screw on your filter... run one line from the out , to your bypass filter IN ..and bypass out ..to the sandwich In ..easy

I dont know squat about the adapters. Can you rec. a brand name. Went to Jegs and Summit and no luck. Any websites to look at ? I saw a Permacool sandwich on another post. Any thoughts about those ? I looking for something better than basic. Is the Cummins mount thread 1"x16 TPI

I was sure that there was a sandwich available for the Cummins. It's a common 2.8/2.4 gasket deal. The only thing needed is the 1-16 threaded extender.

You're going to pay a visit to TMVTAYLOR and be the proud recipient of a finely packaged product totally worth the handling charge. You may have to alter it a tad by drilling a VERY VERY small hole in it to assist the poppet valve. REPEAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! VERY SMALL HOLE (if it's needed at all).

You need this and a standard Permacool sandwich setup for a Ford.
