Blue Magic Headlight Lens Sealer

Does anybody else use this product? I have been using it for years on my various vehicles and it seems to do the trick. Never had a headlight go yellow if this was used a few times per year- even after polishing them.

I'm curious on what this stuff is, though. Seems to provide long lasting protection, but the MSDS on lists "hydrotreated light distalate" and "Polydimethylsiloxane." Sounds a lot like silicone with a oil carrier, but this stuff is fairly thick and instructions say to let it dry...

Why not just shoot them with a UV resistant clear that was made for this job and forget about them?

That's an option. Just don't really know anything about plus don't have a painting setup.

I use it because I got it for 75 cents on 'Clearance' at AZ (or maybe it was AA). It seems to work but a coat of wax occasionally would probably do the same thing.

This is what I do now. Sand them down and put on two coats of adhesion promoter plus 3 coats of krylon UV clear coat for plastics. then sand/buff the paint and you have a long term solution.

If the lenses are actually clear, either because you "cleaned them up" or simply because they were never cloudy to begin with, can you just use a good paint sealant ( Wolfgang 3.0, Menzerna, etc.) to protect them?

I like this stuff. It's only available at Pep Boys now, or online. Not sure why Autozone and AAP stopped carrying it.

I use it. Not sure if it's any better than 303, which I was using previously for 10 years, but it's certainly not worse. It is cheap, available OTA, you need very little, and they give you so MUCH! I use it after every wash and it looks like I barely touched it the bottle. I think it'll outlive me and my kids... maybe even their kids.

I also looked up the MSDS and if I didn't know much better, it reminds me of baby oil. Baby oil that you put on the headlight, let it soak what it can, then wipe off the rest. Don't leave it on. You can bake stains into the headlight when you turn it on... that's pretty much true for many things on the headlight.

Blue Magic makes some great stuff. Some of the products I've purchased from them have a money back guarantee. Their Carpet Spot Remover is excellent. Esp with having a cat in the house. Best one I've ever used and all you have to do is blot it after a minute or two. Walmart has it for $3.88 versus double at AA.

For my plastic headlights, I just hit them with the rotary real quick whenever I happen to have it out to keep them shiny and smooth. I keep a coat of paint sealant on them to protect them. Then again, I use a spray sealant after just about every wash, so that can't hurt either. Our cars are parked outside in Southern California all the time and the lenses haven't faded yet. You can see them begin at the top corners if it's been a while since getting a polishing, but no yellowing or anything yet.
