I own a 1979 Dodge pickup with a slant six.Only driven about 500 miles per year(MAY to Nov.) Current fill is 5qts.5w-30 TropArtic,16ozs.SLOB,and 16ozs.MMO.Truck not using any oil.I have 2 gals. of Mobil Delvac 15w-40 CI-4plus/SM that I'd like to mix 50/50 with a 5w-20 or 5w-30 to use it up. Should I use Mobil Clean 5000,TropArtic blend, Castrol or Valv.conventional,or are they all miscible? Any adverse add pack reactions?THANKS.

I am not a fan of blending with the exception of weights within the same brand, same line. Example would be a quart of like M1 15W-50 blended with 4 quarts of M1 10W-30 to raise the HTHS and 100C cSt. I bought a new slant 6 in 1972. I put 20W-50 in it the day it came home from the dealer and used 20W-50 all its life of well over 100,000 miles. If I still had that engine today, I would use Mobil 1 10-40 HM or MaxLife 10W-40.

I would say to go with the MC5000...stay within the Mobil line. I would think the oils would be rather similar, except for differences in additives, or just use the Delvac straight up.

\:\! That sounds like the better idea to me.
