Today a client gave me a pack of Knoppers waffle snacks. Those were popular twenty years ago in Germany. Apparently Storck still makes them. It's a square waffle layered with hazelnut creme, more waffle, milk creme and chocolate. A bit too sweet for my taste, but definitely something I remember from my ankle biting days.

You mean the variety store "Wigwam"? I remember those quite well- only store I knew of that had a soda vending machine in them where you could purchase a pop (with returnable bottle) and walk around the store!!!

If something else than this- nope, memory banks are blank.

I remember having had Wigwams, but I don't remember what they were. Were they little brown sugar candies that looked like indians?

I can't remember for sure, but I think you're right. Anyone remember what these little candies are I was talking about? Little indian chief sugar candies?

Wigwams I remember were caramel poured into a braid about the size of a chocolate bar and then all of that was dipped in chocolate. The taste is the same as today's "milk duds".

I remember Malathion bars- they were quite long and rather chewy and indeed in a cross-hatch sort of braid. Orange-red package IIRC. An old friend of mine who I still keep in touch with absolutely loved those things, it seems it's the only candy bar from ages past he even bothers mentioning.

I think you meant Marathon. Malathion is what I use around the house to kill bugs.

Ah yes, I remember the Marathon Bars. Use to love those things. There were however, some parents my neighborhood that probably wished they could buy some Malathion bars for their kids.
