Hadn't thought of that, but you make a good point.
The basestocks used were not anything like modern hydrocracked ones.
It would be intersting, though, to do a couple of runs of the old Havoline in a car with a prior good UOA just to see how the old oil compares in results.
 
The paint shaker test was probably not particularly meaningful. The oil probably got stirred pretty well when it was shipped, so stirring it some more wouldn't change things much.
