Black trim scratched, can I make less noticeable?

I hit something tall a while back. Luckily it only scraped the black trim. Asking the experts, is there a way to at least make this less noticeable? I’ve read where people use heat guns, etc. Just wanted to ask some experts if it’s even worth trying to fix or will it just make it worse?

Short of sanding it smooth and painting it which will peel in a few months anyway, no. Can that piece be replaced separate of the bumper?

You can try a heat gun.

Find a youtube video to find out the particulars and use some common sense.

I think this is one of those situations where anything you do is going to make it look worse.

You can just sand the whole piece to blend the scratches in if this plastic is moulded in this color. Start with 150 grit, then 240 and finish with 600 or above. It should look pretty good. No painting needed.

Of course sand horizontally.
