Black Friday Plans anyone?

No I worked its a normal Friday for me.

I don't understand this nonsense, but I want the economy to get better so I hope people spend like crazy.

I rather just make enough money not to give a [censored] and pay regular prices a week before Christmas for my shopping. Besides most of the deals on stuff I see I can get pretty close to online, and since I don't have to waste my time or effort its worth a few extra $$$.

Why get a $199 TV today by killing myself, when I can just click a few times on Amazon and have the same thing at my door on Monday morning for $100 more and no hassle or missed sleep/work on my part?

order a treadmill online at sears with fatwallet cash back on Thu, then cancelled it because it dropped price on Fri and reordered it, then cancelled it again on Fri because wife found her credit card (chase freedom) has another 5% reward on top.

Still haven't picked it up in store yet, trying to wait a few days to avoid the crowd.

You are doing it wrong, if you are not saving at least $400 it is not worth the effort camping out.

I have a feeling the people who are doing this are those making $9/hr, so it's worth it for them to spend 5 hrs trying to save $150.

Of course this raises the question, why is someone making $9/hr buying a new TV or laptop.... Perhaps pawn it on Ebay for a $60 profit?

Bingo! $100 is more than a days work for some. They love their TV though.

I poped into WalMart early Thrusday evening to pick up some cough drops and the folks camped out there waiting for the sales to start didn't even look like they've made $9.00 an hour in years.

I wouldn't even go out in public the way some of those were dressed or looking.

I went to Comcast to get a replacement cable box. Ugh that place reminds me of the DMV. I went to the bank and the gas station and spent the rest of the day at home, working on my car.

My wife dragged me out to a few upscale dept. stores about 7 am ish, Friday morning. Looked like normal shoppers to me, plenty of parking at the malls we went to.

I went out to Academy Sports about 8 pm Friday to see if they had any of the doorbuster guns left, and they did, to my surprise.

Contrary to the national reports of what a great sales day it was, it seems like people weren't spending much around here.

I have no dog in the black friday fight, so don't care much one way or the other about it.

edit: went by Wal Mart after Academy looking for an oil deal, but no joy there, in fact motor oil prices looked like they had gone up a bit. Those shoppers looked pretty normal, also. There was a bomb threat at the big WM store across from WM world HQ earlier in the day.
