Okay so I've brought the idea up in the past, and it never materialized, mostly due to lack of both ability and funds to do so. Well, I was thinking the other day, maybe it's time to give it another go. This would be open to all BITOG members of course, probably mostly those in the northeast, I can't see most people travelling cross country for a meet & greet.

I wouldn't be able to pay for it all out of pocket, I'd set up a paypal account dedicated to donations for it. If people are interested, please let me know in this thread, so I know whether I should go ahead with preliminaries or not.

I could get a local restaraunt (plenty of good ones in this tourist trap area) to cater, or hold it someplace that has grills, or both. Also to be determined would be if any actual oil changing would be going on, because I'm pretty sure the local State park would not appreciate that sort of thing, and an appropriate venue would have to be acquired.

And the list goes on. I'm more than willing to do it, as I think it would be a great opportunity for the members of this community to actually get together. So, if you are interested and/or have any ideas, post them in this thread!

Rochester for Nick is approximately 4 hours. He's approximately 200 miles (give or take a few) from there.

Watkins Glen might be an idea. Cool racetrack, and they let people get paced laps on it on certain days. Of course, it's $$ to do, and not everybody would want to do it.

While not a bad idea, watkins glen is a bit on the far side from me, about 4-5 hours as well.

If changing oil would be allowed, Saratoga Spa State Park also has an auto museum. I often see car club meet & greets held in their parking lot, so that might not be a bad idea, if people would be interested in that as well.

Nick-let me take this one step further.

Because many of us have families, or might be hampered by drive time/gas prices, it needs to be broken down a bit more. I feel meets by state might be a better idea. (and maybe a bigger one down the road if these are successful). I've noticed that we have quite a few members living in the same state...

You'll need to find members who can set up their meets in their home states (like me for MI, for example), and go from there.

It is a good idea, but I think it needs to start a bit smaller. Also might have if we know who is in our general area.

A place to eat is a good idea as well, sinec it might loolk a little strange if we were checking each other's dipsticks in the parking lot...

I would attend, with my wife.

I think it would be essential to extend the invitation to families, and it would be nice to make a day of it, perhaps a barbeque in a park like many companies do for employees. Each person/family could bring a dish or beverage and folding chairs, and the PayPal fund can cover things like park fees, paper plates & utinsels, burgers & dogs, soda, etc.

That's basically my intention, if it's agreeable. Basically a "Community picnic" sort of thing.

Another option for changing oil, would be if one of the members on here owned a repair shop. And, he was willing to have the meet there.

I would have gladly allowed everyone from BITOG to come over to my uncle's shop, but his current shop is under construction (adding 3 more lifts, for a total of 5, and some other lighting and such). His second shop is part of a gas station, so it's rather small. Only two lifts, and it's in a highly populated area so it would be hard to have a meet there.
