You seem unfamiliar with addiction.

Everyone on one side of my family smokes like chimneys. During the holidays when I visit, they literally walk outside onto the patio every 5-15 minutes. I don't know how they afford it.

I guess it takes a combination of radiation treatment and chemotherapy to help quell the addiction.

My neighbor's, wife was a lifelong smoker. At around age 60 she came down with emphysema and soon after with lung cancer. She had one lung removed, went through radiation and chemo and all the pain that comes with it. After she got back from the hospital I kept seeing her sitting on her porch swing every day, smoking until she died two years later. Mind you, both, she and her husband were educated people, but nobody could talk sense into her. The need for her fix was more important to her than anything or anybody else, including her children, grandchildren and husband. She was a very nice and classy lady. Very sad to see her succumb as much to her lack of willpower, misguided priorities as much as to her cancer.

A pack costs $10 here, so a pack-a-day habit costs $3,650 annually.

Invest that money instead, and you'll have $57k after 10 years and $1m after 40 years. This is assuming your investments earn 8% annualized gains.

That's not even considering the money you'll be saving on health care.

Something to ponder for anyone who's consuming tobacco, booze, and Starbucks, but aren't paying down their debts or saving for the future.

I'm not a smoker, but will likely start up soon. I'll go on the patch, and use the stronger and stronger doses until I'm finally ready to smoke.

There are people in WV here that dip and smoke at the same time. It's kind of amazing.

I enjoy handrolling a cigarette once or twice a week, like some enjoy cigars. I never cared for cigars. I view my tobacco use as a hobby and certainly not a habit. Sometimes I go for nearly a year between cigarettes as the desire sometime just doesn't happen.

My wife can't roll a cigarette so she may have a store-bought filterless Camel or Lucky Strike when the desire strikes. She's smoked filterless Lucky Strike occasionally for her whole life, though much less now that she's married to me.

We are both health nuts and have noticed no ill effects from smoking. We each run 5 miles at least 3 times a week and do cardio and weight training about five days a week. We both work in law enforcement and are at the top of the physical fitness scores in our respective offices.

Like alcohol, I believe tobacco use in moderation will not quickly kill someone or lead to bad quality of life. However moderation is the key word.

Yep always moderation. Anything you compulsively all day everyday is bad for you. I get a pack of Newport shorts every once in a while. I usually end up throwing half the pack away but they're enjoyable with a few beers. I tried rolling cigs. I can't roll and loose tobacco is expensive and seems to be poor quality. We need a craft tobacco movement.

Did anybody else read the above post or am I the only one?

By that definition, a toothbrush and toothpaste are also foods.

Yeah, well, out of what you mwntioned, one has taste, and both have governing bodies of what constitutes appr... nevermind.

You also consume cigarettes. Going to question me further?

7-11, eljef. Overnights, and it's within walking distance of my house. No more Ms. Ghetto; Ms. Diva still lives on, in my mind.. Snowball is my main dude now.

Might check put Amazon again, "seasonal," since main Amazon is [censored] in background checks where at least Temp understands what 7 YEARS means, so.. maybe in MORE THAN 7, though Amazon isn't all roses, like people seem to think. Unless you invest or shop, then it is..

And whether it's a fuel-silling Honda or a beastly rarer SUV most think isn't worth it, I'll be back mobile in my own stuff soon. GMC is gonna be mine one day, anyways. Mom seems to think an AC fan that only works on highest setting and the 02 sensor change is "needs a lot of work;" she seems to think you need to spend $6000 to $8000 on a CPO car to get a good one. She is wrong. People waste too much money. Including on cigarettes.

Anything else to ask The Great Cornholio?
*should that be it's own thread? "Ask The Great Cornholio Questions."

LOL!

I can't believe I'm replying. I must be really bored today.

Technically, you inhale the smoke. It's equivalent to putting a steak on the grill, and just sniffing the cooking smells while it burns, but not eating the actual steak. That's why IMO smoking cigarettes is closer to cooking (burning) than food.

Also. In jail, cigs are both currency AND food.

No, but it does need a few things.

I can swing it. It's just annoying, more than anything else.

It's OT to cigarettes (unless you smoke in your car I suppose,) but you have I think the best-looking 5-series, aside from the E39 in Ronin. I was working drive thru in Ohio when a 1997 or 1998 540i (?) with wheels off a 2000 rolled in.. all black. What I wouldn't have given to trade with him. Me, a bored 27 y/o working McDonald's late, and my younger co-workers gave the guy compliments the whole time I'm sure he was thinking "I get this a lot, but I want my food now."

I just checked, and 2002 was same year span as that one. I almost thought you had the god-awful "[censored] is separate from the car" 5 that came after it.

Cool.

My E30 may it R.I.P. (stolen, Irvington, 2003 if you must know) would be proud. Delphi Grey 325es, M-Technic package, bone stock...
