Read the user agreement that you agreed to when you joined. It's a privately owned discussion forum and they reserve the right (and have the right) to pull any and all posts that they choose. It's not a public forum and free speech doesn't apply.

There are plenty of non-BITOG forums that will allow you to post what you want. Rather than complain you should simply go there and post something that you know falls within the R/S/P rules here.

Yes, I've been given "vacations" from BITOG before for being too political. Sometimes politics can't be helped when discussing petroleum industry issues. But general issues in politics unrelated to oil or energy are a bit of a stretch on a motor oil website. There are plenty of sites for that elsewhere.

I tend to agree, the problem here is that we have a number of folks who are probably not interested in any possible viewpoint that doesn't mimic their own so they do anything and everything possible to sabotage those threads and a honest, civil discussion of the subject.

It didn't involve politics directly.

However the owner and moderators of this site have the right to do as they see fit for a private site. You really can't argue that fact.

Is there anything on earth more political than oil? Oil is synonymous with politics.

But there has been plenty of discussion when an American political issue is raised.

Should a "Paris style" attack happen in Washington DC (and i sincerely hope it doesn't) i expect that you won't engage in any conversation on ISIL. You wouldn't selectively contradict yourself or would you?

Those who run this forum have every right to control what is posted here. You are still free to start your own forum, so I wouldn't exactly call it censorship.

Yeah yeah. I'm fully aware and engaged in "other" online avenues for discussion. Just wanted to discuss a major world issue here. Fwiw, i don't see how it breached the "rules" as there wasn't a political or religious slant to it.

It's ISIL people. Quering how Western born and bred kids can be brainwashed. And if that can't be discussed here then fair enough.

Lets post dumb pictures of cats instead in the "Off topic" section.

... And an oil forum isn't a place for jokes either, right?
