Do it, now!

If I was looking for an antivirus deal

I'd go ESET, Kaspersky, norton. In that order.

I dont want to come across as a basher but if for some reason you have some of the issues other people have had in the past with bitdefender.. its abit of a NONSTARTER.

BD scores very well on protection but people have had SERIOUS issues from it.. both eset and kaspersky were FAR recently or 3pc with coupon (if you dont do mir)

I had BD awhile back and would get wierd lag on webpages, and other intermittant issues. As well as some FALSE positives.

I had problems with Bitdefender too. I bought the $8.00 download from New Egg and it would not let me change any settings or view any scan results. Like the program was there but all of the function controls were turned off. I bought a $20.00 one year 3 pc ESET deal from New Egg Egg and will install it when my ESET free trial ends. I put the ESET trial on my wife's laptop too and it is working fine. I never had any trouble at all with ESET.

I think it has allot to do with individual PC configurations/programs, because spending time over at the BD forums I'm seeing issues some members are having but others have not. Me personally I'm have nothing but good experiences with it as is my daughter and her school lap top. Very light program i hardly know it's there.

I do think BD has allot of "bells and whistles" that are not necessary.

During the past year 2013, I did free downloads of 3-4 different ESET trial offers (using different email addresses) and it works great.... low on resource-hogging.

I had Webroot and purchased it based on all the rave reviews on the web for it. I've come to the conclusion that most of them were faked as when I declined to renew in favor of Freeware, AVG found several little pieces of virus that Webroot had left undisturbed. After that I was hesitant to buy anything, but it seems Bitdenfender is the real deal...

Yep. I think they had some marketing group post fake reviews and hype about their product a couple of years ago. AVG took out a virus for free that my paid subscription left behind...

[censored]!

After having used both Bitdefender now (paid version) and previous ESET trial, I like the ESET product better. Bitdefender seems very bloated, and offers a bunch of surveillance stuff that I just don't care to have or just don't need. Their defrag module crashed when I tried to abort the operation. Not really all that impressed with it.

If ESET comes out with a 3-PC license for cheap soon, I'll buy that and replace Bitdefender.

Them features you do not have to use you can turn them off or don't activate them. I'm not sure what you mean by bloated I'm not seeing that at all i can hardly tell the progam is on my PC.

and i don't know about a defrag BD plus don't have that feature.

The defragmenter is included in the Tuneup section of the Bitdefender Total Security software. It crashed during defrag. The Total Security also includes a bunch of other things I don't need like wallet and online storage and parental controls. I also prefer ESET's clean interface. Bitdefender has a dark "Droid-ish" interface that I don't find very easy to use. I like how you can right-click on ESET's tray icon and disable it for a certain period of time (like to install other software). Bitdefender offers no such easy way to disable it, at least not that I've found.

Its not to bad,, from main panel/the settings gear on anti-virus/on-access scanning/on/off then it asks for how long you want to disable protection.

If you're willing to do the rebates;

Kaspersky Internet Security 3 PCs 1 year Free after rebate and free shipping. Sales tax if they have a store in your state.

Bitdefender Total Security 3 PCs 1 year Free after rebate and free shipping. Sales tax if they have a store in your state.

Fry's will have these sales quite often and often include Bitdefender Total Security 3 PCs 2 years.

One thing to remember, Registration key for last year or the year before will work fine to renew your copy of this year or next's Bitdefender/Kaspersky or whatever. The keys don't expire so if you have extras...............well, that's a good thing. :-) In most cases, if you have a registration key from say 2012 or 2013 you can also use it to activate a downloaded 2014 trial copy.

BTW, Fry's sales are weekly. You can sign up to have their sales emailed to you if you're so inclined.
