My dad's 92 Previa is due for a transmission flush. It received a flush about 35,000 miles ago with Castrol Dex/Mercon substitute. It currently has 122,000 miles.

I picked up a kit from a vendor that has a 11oz can of BG Quick Clean and 6 oz of BG ATC Plus (for transmissions up to 8.5 qt in capacity, this one is 6.0).

Has anyone else used BG ATC Plus or Quick Clean in their transmission? I am curious how well the Quick Clean works for dissolving deposits, as this one only saw two drain and refills prior to the flush I did at around 80k.

For an aftermarket additive company, BG seems to be the best out there, based on the technical info they publish and the effort they put in towards marketing. Hopefully this stuff is not complete snake oil.

Thanks.

We used to use a B&G machine and their chemicals in our shop.

Never had any issues across ten years or so of usage. B&G seems to make quality products. What disturbs me is there is so much variation in trans designs these days that it would seem no ONE fluid or cleaner is appropriate and safe.

I would and currently am using Auto-Rx in my transmission. Run for a few thousand and dump the ATF. In my mind better than something thats in there for 20 minutes.

As for the BG conditioner, WHY? If you are buying quality ATF no need for any additives and they may screw up a used oil analysis.

This van is old enough to experiment with.
