Better place to order parts than RA?

The question stems from my recent order with RA. After spending almost $400 buying new brakes and calipers and other parts for my F150, they didn’t even have the decency to package my parts respectfully, or shall I say with common sense.. The box was nearly destroyed and caved in on all ends, one rotor wasn’t even in the manufacturer’s box (guessing they were trying to just throw everything together to be cheap with shipping) and there was hole in the box where I’m assuming one of my wheel bearings fell out of. One would think to place parts like multiple bearings and seals at least in a plastic bag.. The package came from NY to CA. With that said, one would assume to package it a little better because of the distance coast to coast.. I guess I’m over them for now because of this and want to know if there’s a better place to order from? I have tried Amazon but have received old parts that may have sat on the shelves for a long time (build dates being old).

Thanks in advance.

in my industry (healthcare) our products routinely arrive at a hospital in a garbage bag, loosely thrown in. The customer will call and raise all kinds of hell until we inform them they were packaged correctly from us...it's the shipping company that smashed the box, spilled the contents and placed them in a trash bag. Lots of shipping damage occurs, unfortunately.

Probably not anywhere that will offer the same selection/price as RA. The packaging from the differing independent warehouses should be brought to RA'a attention. You can also determine which warehouses are substandard and not utilize them in the future. You can spend the extra coin and buy at your local NAPA. Otherwise shipping will be hit and miss from whatever online vendor you may choose. That being said, I have had nothing but well packaged items from RA's parts providers. Not so much with other sourced parts on EBAY or Amazon.

Never had this issue personally with Rockauto. Did you contact them via email?
I’ve had this happen a few times but blamed it on shipping every time with RA.. I went into my order and clicked on the parts that are missing but their system hasn’t updated to show that my parts have been delivered.

I like Amazon or AAP (great discount codes) for various car parts.

Some RA parts like brake pads and filters came in manufacturer boxes that were very faded. Must have been very old stock.

I have to agree... But with auto parts I guess there would be some hope from the consumer’s end that packaging would be somewhat more stout than a single big box with 4 heavy rotors, calipers, and brake pads..

I’m probably just unlucky with RA. My last 4 orders came this way. I will have to look back and see if they were all from warehouse “B” like this order was..

I bought a trailer hitch from RA mopar for my 2019 jeep. It arrived with parts falling out of the box looking like it lost a war with sword wielding ninjas

Ps you cant tell which warehouse it is.. A B C D E are generic and not fixed to any certain warehouse.

You too huh? Would you happen to remember which warehouse it was shipped from?

How do you tell which warehouse it was? A B C arent names. their only use is to tell you its not the same warehouse.
What was B could be C or A next time you order.

I will use auto parts stores or dealers if I don’t buy it online. You can order online from the parts places too and have it shipped. I’d never buy parts on Amazon I know people who have gotten knock offs from there. 1AAuto I’ve used with no issues but the problem there is you don’t get to pick the brand it’s whatever they have.

I got two bad lower control arms (AC Delco) from Amazon for my truck a few years ago. After the install the steering stopper on the LCA was digging into the lower caliper bolt and nearly sheered it off. Ever again.

I'm in biotech. We had our affiliate ship a 2 gram sample to us frozen. They sent a huge shipper with 3 inch Styrofoam and about 80 lbs of dry ice with the sample. The dry ice hardly sublimated. Took us a while to find the sample. We were cracking up. Asked them why such a huge shipper for a 2 g sample. They said that was their only validated shipper. Then we asked why they felt the need to use a validated shipper for a 2 g sample such that the shipper and shipping costs far exceeded the value of the sample itself. And people wonder why drugs cost so much.

I once needed brake rotors for my oldLucerne and local part stores were ridiculous so I checked rock auto for a price and they weren’t that bad so I checked Amazon and ordered from them cause they were cheaper. When I got them there was a little card in the box(from rock auto) thanking me for the purchase
