Offspring earned early acceptance to Lehigh University, we're very proud of her. We will be spending a fair amount of time there and I'm looking for thoughts from locals on good comfort food, local pubs, etc. We avoid chains like a plague, and I make an effort to try regional specialties wherever possible. I'd rather have a mediocre piece of scrapple or a Coney Island dog from a hole in the wall than the best Applebee's has to offer ;)

Thoughts and recommendations please.

I was born and raised in Bethlehem. Take this with a grain of salt as I haven't been there in over 20 years, but Martellucci's Pizzeria if you're in the mood for a pie was always my favorite. I see it's still open which is a good sign.
From the look via Google maps street view, that appears to be exactly the type of place we try to find. Thanks.

I read both menus and I’m getting hungry.

🤤 Mmmm Mmmm
Stopped in at Two Rivers on the way home from Northern New Hampshire today. After eight hours behind the wheel it was time for a beer. Available salad toppings include the usual chicken or shrimp as well as a fried egg or the half pound hamburger patty shown here.

If low brow is OK the local hot dog chain Yocco's is great. Get a few chili dogs with everything and some pierogies. First started going there when I worked in Allentown during a summer in college (1998), married a girl from there so go back from time to time and it's always fun to go to a place that hasn't changed a bit in the decades in between.
