I was picking up my car from the shop today and because I use Pennzoil, I told him how much a love it because he's such a Valvoline and M1 fan and doesn't like Pennzoil too much..says it causes sludge..LOL But then he corrected himself and said that really, all oil causes sludge when left in too long and said the BEST way to prevent it is to let your car idle for 3 minutes before you drive it. Anyone ever heard this? And does it really work?

Oils can sludge if they're left in for too long or sometimes just by bad internal engine design. In a modern engine there is no reason to let the car warm up slowly by letting it run when it would warm up much quicker and therefore be more efficient sooner if you just drove it.
ARX will keep sludge from happening.
Frequent oil changes are your best protection aginst sludge. You see extended oil change people praise their used oil analysis, but they dont detect sludge. If sludge is the monster you are after, 3000/3 month oil changes is the best defense. If you go with synthetic you may be able to stretch it to 5000/5 months without worry about sludge, of course these are in engines that are known to be sludge monsters, so before all you Amsoil people draw your guns, Iam only stating to be on the safe side, frequent oil changes, with any oil are the best choice if sludge keeps you awake at night.
